TaatmkYou ask, "What is happening to our society?"In most of these recent killings, drugs seem to be involved. Drugs and mental
illness both seem to put society at danger along with criminals trying to run
from police to avoid capture. But, drugs. Start there. Society needs to quit
thinking of drug users as being non violent criminals, even though sometimes
they are. But activities undertaken to get money to buy drugs often
lead to violence. Drug dealers are often violent and prey on drug users. Drug
users are often violent and try to rob drug dealers or other drug users. Drug cartels, growers, clandestine labs, transporters, and distributors
- violent. Even terrorists get involved.Did I mention gangs. Gangs
in the drug trade - fighting over turf with rival gangs, killing gang members
that want to leave the gang, even retaliating with rival gang members while in
prison. Violent. It all seems to circle back to drugs and the drug
trade.Drugs. Final answer.
This is scary stuff. This is the kind of things you read about happening in
"third world" countries. What is happening to our society? Dead
bodies being dropped off in the middle of the street? This is not the
neighborhood I used to know.
