While "political correctness" can occasionally go to far, isn't the basic form of it just simple manners?

Don't be rude. That's it. Don't be sexist or racist or homophobic. It's not that difficult, it's the golden rule.

    Mad Hatter,

Fox news is a joke. I don't identify with them.

With a high national debt, and welfare state, there's no doubt of past corruption, and misleading news reporting.

    Not that difficult to observe.

"Anyone, including President Trump, is branded a racist if you don't agree with their PC nonsense . . . "

What do you call someone who supports white supremacist ideology? Do you call them "good people" and disregard the racist ideology they support?

If is talks like a racist and acts like a racist, then it must be a racist. White supremacists are racist. There's no argument here. There's nothing PC about it. If one can't be civil and mindful in one's speech, perhaps he/she didn't learn proper manners growing up.

Donald Trump has a long history of racist behavior. It didn't begin with his Birther nonsense. It goes back to when he and his father would refuse to rent to black people in their NY apartment buildings. He is a man of privilege and entitlement and feels he doesn't have to respect others because he is so much better than them.

So you can take that any way you want. But a racist is a racist is a racist.

You really need to learn your history. The Southern Democrats of the 19th Century are not the Democrats of the 21st Century. In fact, the rebellion of the Dixiecrats started taking place in the late 1940s and ended in 1965 with their moving over to the Republican Party.

As for Donald Trump, he did not cause the problems we have today, but he enables those who continue creating them and keeping them central to their cause. No president in history has said that there are "good people" among neo-Nazi's and members of the KKK. Good people don't endorse white supremacists.

As for the media and its complicity with promoting racism, just continue reading Breitbart News and watching Fox News. These are among the numerous Far Right media outlets promoting a racist agenda of intolerance and white supremacy.

Don't reference fraudulent history cited in the conspiracy-laden propaganda of Breitbart, Drudge, Fox, InfoWars and Daily Stormer. These white nationalist media groups promote the very racism that Trump espouses.

It's too bad that John Kelly can't remove the root of the problem in the White House. It may be that Trump will remove him.

Hawai'i is one place of relative calm during these turbulent storms that emanate from the White House. Donald Trump's influence is far distant from here as his attitudes and policies appear to exist in another country. We are fairly independent of that craziness and nonsense and our state government continues to fight against Trump and his racist ways.

When Hawai'i was being considered as the 50th state, Southern racists were opposed because they did not want a non-white state existing as part of the United States. Additionally, they didn't want a state that contained a high proportion of Asian-descended people mixing with their imagined ethnically-pure country.t.

Perhaps this is why much of the opposition to Trump and his white supremacist values are so ingrained in the islands. They have no place here, as they have no place anywhere in America. We lead the way in social justice and cultural diversity.

If you are a racist of any type, stay away from Hawai'i as you are not welcome. There is no Aloha spirit in you. You cannot inflict your racist ways on us. We are a friendly and caring people and do not want Trump and his mean-spirited and callous energy infecting us.

    * Democrats put up these statues, and now want to tear them down? Crazy!

    * Trump did not cause the ills of our country. Only a fool would believe this rubbish.

    * Racism is fuel by the media, and liberal politicians. Not Trump!

    * The media, corrupt politicians, and a gullible public are the greatest threat to America. This is why most people through history have lived in poverty, and with wars.

@Mcclark....Right wingers say "don't ask me to do anything for my country, not one thing."

Is that right?.......Republicans give more to charity than Democrats and always have?

Thid; I recall all those thousands of racist emails when Obama was elected. I lost a few friends over their disgusting emails.

Suddenly, Trump supporters are whining and melting over Trump's failed presidency. They forgot how ugly they treated Obama supporters.

Fact remains, Thid, Trump is leaning towards the alt-right and their beliefs. We have no place in America for such ugliness!

@Californian: Was it "PC" when Barack Obama refused to call the jihadist attackers all over the world Muslim terrorists? My point: Getting angry about President Trump's word choices is just as silly as getting all bent out of shape about Obama's word choices, isn't it? Calling President Trump a supporter of white supremacy is as truthful and saying Obama supported Muslim jihadist attacks! Both are lies! Is one lie better than the other, really? This is classic PC!

Heaven knows I get annoyed and frustrated with political correctness. That sets me apart from many other "minority" Americans.

But it is a sad, sad day for our country when asking its President to repudiate Nazi sympathizers and the Klan is labelled as "political correctness."

@Utah Girl: President Trump did not cause that Nazi nut to drive his car into that crowd any more than Bernie Sanders caused that left wing nut to shoot up a GOP baseball game! Rational American's rejection of left wing PC is why President Trump sits in the WH and Hillary never will!

"And Democrats think rational Americans will support that?"

If being PC means Americans won't be mowed down by cars by hate groups, yes.

Trump could not call Heather Heyer's death an act of terrorism.

Trump has proven beyond what Mitt Romney stated "He's a fraud and a phony". He's proving that plus he's inept and clueless. Did anyone expect leadership and knowledge from a guy that managed to bankrupt casinos?

What has happened to the Democratic party? The once noble party of JFK: "Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country" has been replaced by misguided PC police who constantly look for any reason to be "offended"! Anyone, including President Trump, is branded a racist if you don't agree with their PC nonsense! And Democrats think rational Americans will support that?

Trump will be berating everyone in his own party the way it's going. Sen. Corker and others are seeing what is up. Does Trump have self-loathing or something? It's like he wants to go down.

Our generation has put the worst President in the history of our country into office, Donald Trump. Let us hope the Muellar investigation finds enough evidence for impeachment.
