I know a mother of six who won't purchase more than a day's worth of
food at the grocery because she doesn't want to be one of "those
moms" who holds up the line buying $388 worth of meals. It seems to be more
about how she possibly feels about being perceived as being the mother of so
many kids. That's a perception she obviously doesn't embrace. I
don't think that should ever have negative connotations but I am not that
person. So it seems best that you do put up with the grocery store
and shopping cart follies, Arianne. You have good attitude. There's no
shame in being the matriarch of a large family; in fact, moms like you and me
should be revered by all!
Aaaaaand this is why I tell my kids, "Sorry, Mommy can't push
those." The resustance ebbs after a hundred or so repetitions.
