    @UoU 1991 - Park City, UT

    The vast majority of Utah’s wins in the series came during the first 40 games, when Utah was playing with a 30-year head start, after BYU had to rebuild its program from scratch...

    Since 1965, after BYU got serious about football, built their own stadium, and helped create the WAC, BYU has owned U in national rankings, conference championships, bowl games, national awards, and head to head.

    BYU had TEN AP Top 25 finishes, before Utah cracked the final AP poll for the 1st time, and BYU still has more than TWICE as many AP Top 25 finishes as Utah.

    ----------

    Vast majority of BYUs wins were against cupcakes in a ONE team WAC.

    6 wins vs top 25 in your entire history
    1 win over a top 10 team.

    Actually, vast majority of BYU wins came in 70s and 80s when Utah was a basketball school.

    Since 1990, after Utah got serious about football and hired McBride. It's all Utah.

    * AP Top 5: Utah 2 BYU 1
    * Top 10: Utah 3 BYU 1
    * Top 15: Utah 3 BYU 3
    * Top 25: Utah 8 BYU 8

    Average Ranking: Utah #13 (BYU #18)

    Unlike Hawaii, NIU, and Western Michigan, BYU has yet to play in a major bowl in the current era.

    Often in baseball, it is said that you have 1 good pitch to hit in an AB. And if you miss it, you probably won't get another. BYU's coach said Utah didn't miss it, while BYU did. Don't know why that bothers some people. Maybe they have too much hatred in their hearts?

    I just came for the comments ... and they didn't disappoint. A mention of BYU's victory in lacrosse yesterday which, while it sounded like quite the finish, had nothing to do with the baseball game in the slightest. A comment about BYU being thoroughly dominated by 3 runs, which I'm still trying to figure out which fan base that was trolling. A comment about the celestial virtues of the Cougars, implying that their opponents do not possess said virtues. And finally a comment looking for a slight from BYU where none was present. When you score 6 runs with only 4 hits you undoubtedly received a few gifts, in this case it was a combination of walks and hit batsmen (universally referred to as gifts throughout the baseball universe), combined with a timely hit in the form of a grand slam.

    My two cents: fun game, good crowd, glad the Utes won, and whoever came up with the idea of having both teams wear their dark colors (Utah red, BYU blue) is a genius. I'm pretty sure it started with football a few years ago, but it's a sharp look. Extra kudos to BYU for having the entire team go with the high pants.
