. . .and this is almost news.

That rant (which changes a bit with each retelling—the cheerleader bit was new) proves one thing. Eggshell sensibilities and real life don’t often mix. But it’s odd he’d support a school whose fans actually climb out of the stands and onto the field to try (rather unsuccessfully) to harm the opponent’s cheerleaders.

    Nice glass house!

    answer:

Spend an afternoon in Rice Eccles when BYU is the opponent or the Huntsman Center, listen carefully, especially to the student section, and you will have your answer.

    @Uteology

    Are you serious?

You're comparing a few isolated instances over 10 or 15 years, i.e, paper cups thrown at a ref by a couple fans, a fan tackling a cheerleader (which Cheerleader, btw, went on to do his graduate work at BYU) and a snarky message on a Jumbotron ...
    To what?

I'll tell you what, as a former U of U student and one who was dragged to U of U games for 12 years, by my misguided Father (lol), was constantly subjected to anti-Mormon chants, inebriated fans (who are Masters of weaving tapestry's of profanity, that linger over the Great Salt Lake to this day), and witnessing a BYU Female Cheerleader, bombarded with snowballs, to the point of injury.

And that says nothing of the anti-Mormon crowd we had to endure from the Utah Chronicle and liberal Professors, who always had a hard time remembering their job descriptions and sticking to the subjects which they were hired to teach.

Most (Six figure) U of U Professors, only spend 4 hours a week in the classroom, the T.A.'s do most of the work, many of whom have not even mastered English as a second or third language.

So yes, Uteology, AZUte, Naval-Frog et al, I know of which I speak.

    Bluto,

Why would a person's religion "drive U fans crazy?" Like the promo says, at the University of Utah, "we let U be U."

Weddle is a really good guy and a Mormon convert, (which really drives U fans crazy).
However, it does appear as if his exposure to the "Eccles University-School of Bad Manners" has affected him.

    -------------

I wonder how these bad manners affected you: pelting officials with garbage, attacking cheerleaders, and this:

"Following BYU's 78-72 win over the Aggies, the arena's Jumbotron flashed a quick message that read: "Dear UT St. Enjoy The LOSS! (heart) Your Big Brother BYU." Once video and photos of the Jumbotron message hit the web on Thursday, Aggie fans expressed dismay at the lack of sportsmanship."

    pluto:

On the contrary. Not only am I delighted, it seems to annoy coog fans that it happened at the U.

    No beard....no problem.

If a clean-cut guys yells the same thing, nothing happens.

Dude looks almost homeless (which I don't have a problem with at all). Augusta International doesn't roll like that.

My high school classmate, Gary McCord, a former PGA golfer and current play by play network announcer for golf told me how he got in troubke with the “the old men wearing the green blazers” by describing the greens as if they had been bikini waxed they were so fast”. He was blackballed by The Masters and not allowed to cover the tournament. It also earned him an interview on “the Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson. He said that he could not have engineered better PR than that if he tried!

Anybody advocating ejection from society for an awesome beard, should be ejected from society.

AYSO soccer rules are worse...I mean more strict—they’ll kick you off the field even if you think of yelling something.

No, it tops them all. The Super Bowl is cool too, but it is only one day, where the Masters is 4 days of awesome.

That is hilarious. Reminds me when I got a yellow card watching my daughters youth soccer game standing on the sidelines. Apparently some sports want you to stay uninvolved and quiet.
