Dame is a 100% class act, has impeccable integrity, and is a genuinely good
person. His loyalty to those who have helped him along the way is admirable and
rare. He was no different at Weber State than he is in Portland. Add to that
his work ethic and natural talent and it's no wonder he's done what he
has. I don't see all NBA players as closely as I've been able to
observe Lillard and Malone, but those two really seem to stand out to me as the
hardest working players I've seen. A really exciting thought
to me is how similar Mitchell seems to be to Lillard in many ways. Mitchell has
more charisma, or at least wears his emotions more on his sleeve, but if he
already has or develops Dame's work ethic-- watch out!
The loyalty that Dame has shown to both Portland and Ogden is like something out
of a fifties movie. To “do it the hard way” with the coaches and
team mates who have been loyal to him—-or at least give everything in
trying. This is the mindset of a great NBA player who deserves so much respect.
Lillard will wind up in the Basketball HOF—but it would be wise for
players and fans who are inspired by him, to know the man and to watch how he
operates, not only as a player, but as a team mate and a person.
