i don't know though. We all have a chance to learn much, expound
scriptures and exhort the saints. We have that opportunity when we give a talk,
visit other families, talk to friends, lead a class etc. We are all asked to
write much, in writing journals and family history, our whole life story, and
that of ancestors; social media now also enables to contact many people every
day. I select favorite hymns all the time and play them too. The
hymn book is much longer today and we are always adding to our services other
choral music from all over the world from every age and many nations. Our
opportunities are at least as good as those of Emma Smith. Many wives are
ordained by their husbands and many husbands support their wives in the Church.
We are all elected (chosen) by God and all may gain a crown of righteousness.
Emma Smith was the greatest woman of faith, during the lifetime of the prophet
Joseph Smith. Consider her calling, compared to more modern women of faith
today:"[T]hou shalt be ordained under [Joseph's] hand to
expound scriptures, and to exhort the church, according as it shall be given
thee by my Spirit. For he shall lay his hands upon thee, and thou shalt receive
the Holy Ghost, and thy time shall be given to writing, and to learning much.
And thou needest not fear, for thy husband shall support thee in the church .
... And it shall be given thee, also, to make a selection of sacred hymns, as
it shall be given thee, which is pleasing unto me, to be had in my church. ...
Keep my commandments continually, and a crown of righteousness thou shalt
receive." (See D&C 25.)
Sarah Marinda Bates Pratt was the greatest inspiration of all. Her courage far
exceeded all the others combined.
