The article talks about this season being a bad dream. Actually it is their reality.

“Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking.”
    ——-
Correct, it is indeed some wishful thinking on my part. I’m pretty sure that’s what fans do, wish the
    best for their team.

“Whatever happened to next man up? Utah fans have been claiming for years that P5 programs are so loaded with talent that there's no drop off when a backup is called on to replace a starter.”
    ——
I’d say my comment pretty clearly indicates that Utah is NOT loaded this year. I wish they were but reality is that Utah is rebuilding and can’t afford the injuries they’ve had to deal with this year.

“Besides, don't other teams also have to deal with injuries and other issues?”
    ——
Of course they do, but then I don’t remember talking about “other teams”. I’m pretty sure I was commenting specifically about Utah so if you’d like to break down what UCLA or any other team is doing or needs to do to be successful then please feel free to do so.

Thanks for your antagonistic comments and questions, please let me know if I can help further clarify the obvious for you.

If Tillman, Johnson and Seeley can all get (and stay) healthy then Utah could get on a roll as conference play winds down and the conference tournament begins.

    ---------------

Please...if you're pinning the hopes of your season on role players like those guys it means you're not going anywhere. That's pretty sad.

You guys aren't hurting in the frontcourt, it's the backcourt that you're getting schooled in game after game. Bringing in more mediocre big man talent won't solve your issues, you need guards who can score consistently, especially from deep.

Barefield is more up and down than an elevator, Bealer does mostly nothing while on the court despite some nice athleticism and Bibbins is just too small (a more modern version of Glen Deans).

Your team is just not very talented or athletic in the backcourt and that's why you're going to continue to struggle even when you get back your role playing bigs. You need a talent upgrade.

UCLA was missing three players who have been suspended or left the team:

Cody Riley, LiAngelo Ball, and Jalen Hill

A lot of Ute fans are down on the team right now but to those individuals I'd say keep your chins up. Why? While we all know this isn't the greatest Ute team ever, I do see the following positives...

    1) The UCLA loss was ugly but Utah was without Jace Johnson and Donnie Tillman, two of the teams best defenders and rebounders.

    2) Chris Seeley finally got back on the court and looked pretty good, better than he looked in the early games he played in this year. If he's finally healthy and gets more game minutes he may end up helping the Utes both size-wise and athletically.

Bottom line is Utah has had a rough year with injuries and therefore continuity. If Tillman, Johnson and Seeley can all get (and stay) healthy then Utah could get on a roll as conference play winds down and the conference tournament begins. While Utah still won't be world beaters the good news is there's really no team they couldn't beat in the conference tournament outside of Arizona. But it's not all about this year, my optimism is that there's some good talent on this team that will be adding a great recruiting class next year.

"The Ute will not be attending the NCAA tourney this year as it is not safe!"
    --------------
Not only is the "safe" thing extremely played out, but you're really stretching when trying to apply it to the tourney. By all means keep bringing it to us Utah fans, I'm simply issuing you a challenge to come up with better material.

I’m pretty sure the Chris Hill rant was the result of him being told that Bill Walton would be on the UCLA-Utah broadcast.

"Big BYU fan here, but BYU needs Utah to keep winning."

Prospects are not good, especially if Tillman doesn't return at 100%.

Best guess, looking at the likely wins/losses for the remainder of Utah's season:

16-13 overall; 8-10 PAC 12; first round loss in the PAC 12 tournament.

No NCAA bid, but an outside chance of a first round road game in the NIT.

    utahute69,
I love Bill Walton. He gets off topic real easy but it never gets old to hear him talk about how BYU crushed the utes. He talked about this the last three games he has done and will most likely mention it a few more time if he does anymore ute games.
And don't worry about the bad language. if the AD can use vulgar language you can too.

Spokane, I doubt the NIT will take the utes this year.

I personally think the Utes have great talent and can shoot lights out sometimes but they cannot defend and make stupid mistakes and when things start to go bad they crumble. But on the bright side 4 of those starters will be gone next year.

Big BYU fan here, but BYU needs Utah to keep winning. Best win BYU has right now. The committee will be looking at good wins vs bad losses. We have two that are just terrible. I'm rooting for ya Utah, not that I like to, but I need to.

Not a lot of talent on the Ute team this year and can't rebound worth a lick.

The Utes desperately need an upset win over USC on Sunday and a sweep of the Washington schools at home next week, or their season could be toast.

A five-game losing streak entering the WSU game is a real possibility.

The Utes are in free fall, looking lost and leaderless, and any hopes of an NCAA berth are fading fast.

A loss to USC will pretty much seal the deal.

Watching the Utah game tonight was a bad dream especially at the end of the game. Having to suffer through Bill Walton through the entire game was a bad dream from the moment he first said a word and lasted painfully throughout the game. He makes me rant and use vulgar words.
