    You are correct London_josh.

I've become overly sensitive to regular disparaging of BYU by the local media and some trashers.

Edwards use of tight ends was an integral part of his wholesale commitment to the passing game and was a major influence on college and pro offensive philosophy.

Mythic (legendary) is an accurate description of BYU's success with tight ends.

"Mythical implies imaginary, fanciful. A more positive option, Mythic, implies real, legendary. But either one is sarcastic hyperbole."

How long have you followed BYU football?

"Dennis Pitta, Chad Lewis, Itula Mili, David Mills, Tod Thompson, Chris Smith, Gordon Hudson, Jonny Harline, Doug Jolley, Daniel Coats, Andrew George, Clay Brown and many others."

That's a fair list, perhaps you are too young to recall how Lavelle changed how offenses work by sending everyone into coverage, it was the TE that killed them as BYU was at the time and in the region rather unique in it's TE use as a weapon.

The title of Mr. Harmon's article is a not so subtle dig at the premise that BYU has strong tight end tradition. Mythical implies imaginary, fanciful. A more positive option, Mythic, implies real, legendary. But either one is sarcastic hyperbole.

    Some basic notes here.

Utah fans saying “BYU fans keep saying they’ll win another national championship”, is what they mean when they say “BYU fans keep saying they’ll win another national championship”. I never HEAR a BYU fan say “We’ll win another national championship”, I just keep hearing Utah fans saying we keep saying it.

And Dick Harmon saying, “he’s not in the NFL yet”, is BYU fans saying “he’ll be in the NFL.”

And “he’ll never play in the NFL” is correct, because playing on special teams in the NFL isn’t playing in the NFL.

    Got it?

"Most people said he wouldn't play QB in the NFL which so far is 100% accurate."

    Denial.

Go back and read the comments.

Just like a BYU hater to move the goal posts all the time, or add modifiers as needed to "prove" a point.

@Riverton cougie..........."In fact, relative to draft pick, Hill is having a lot of success. But like I said my point was that many said he couldn't, but he could. They mocked BYU fans who said he could have a future in the NFL."

Most people said he wouldn't play QB in the NFL which so far is 100% accurate. The saints obviously don't believe he will play QB for them either. No coach in football anywhere puts a guy they think may play QB for them on the kick off team.

"I made no predictions about Taysom Hill, but his NFL record speaks for itself"

Search the comments, you'll find plenty of Ute "fans" talking about how Hill wouldn't even make it to the NFL. He didn't get drafted, but still ended up playing (not just playing, but tearing it up) in preseason games. People were surprised to see him released, but he was picked up from the Saints where he is getting playing time.

"Not a very successful NFL career."

First, you can't say "not very successful career" after less than a year in the NFL; his career isn't over. Second, I didn't say he was a shining example of what an NFL career should look like. But he is in the NFL and playing games when thousands of haters said he couldn't. That was my point. He is a heck of an athlete and the NFL realizes that and want to use it.

In fact, relative to draft pick, Hill is having a lot of success. But like I said my point was that many said he couldn't, but he could. They mocked BYU fans who said he could have a future in the NFL.

Another denial of reality by the BYU haters.

"iIf these claims are not coming from the BYU faithful, then where are they coming from?"

Just guess. Or read comments on BYU articles. You'll find out.

"Are you suggesting a mass conspiracy by Utah fans to make the Y look bad ?"

I suppose it could be called a conspiracy if it were subtle. But yes, you did end up coming to the correct conclusion.

"Another denial of reality by the BYU faithful."

Uh.... I don't know how to respond to that. I don't want to laugh in case you were actually serious.

    cont.

If these claims are not coming from the BYU faithful, then where are they coming from? Are you suggesting a mass conspiracy by Utah fans to make the Y look bad ? Another denial of reality by the BYU faithful.
I made no predictions about Taysom Hill, but his NFL record speaks for itself
After not being drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, Hill signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent on May 5, 2017. Hill appeared in three preseason games with the Packers; he completed 14 of 20 passes, threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. He was waived on September 2, 2017.
On September 3, 2017, Hill was claimed off waivers by the New Orleans Saints. On December 3, Hill was promoted to the active roster and appeared in a total of twelve special teams plays against the Carolina Panthers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. He recorded two tackles of Panthers kick returner Fozzy Whittaker in his NFL debut.
Not a very successful NFL career. Maybe he could take over for Ty Detmer. Want to see a successful NFL career? Look at Alex Smith, or Eric Weddle.

"I find it strange that BYU faithful has not yet learned to look before they leap. Their constant claims of “ we’re going to get a National Championshipthis year” or “our quarterback is going to be a Heissmain winner “. before the season even starts is starting to get real old and beyond funny."

I find it strange that you think the constant claims of winning the national championship or winning the Heisman this year is actually coming from BYU fans.

I would say "you must be new", but your comment implies that you are no stranger to BYU football.

"Now they are talking about a freshman player is going to the NFL ? You would think that the taste of crow from past claims would be enough to cause them to think twice before they speak"

Speaking of eating crow and players going to the NFL, how did your predictions about Taysom Hill turn out regarding his NFL career?

Sound like most of talk was from Chad Lewis and not Matt Bushman. Nice that Matt did well during his first year. We don't know what or how our O's staff going to put together going foward. Let Matt take care of himself and hope that he continues his stuff for 2018.
The other question, is Kalani Sitake going to take over the DC position because last year was bad too?

He appears to look the part. Has the body to be a good one. Couldn't really tell his talent level with the byu's offense last year. Time will tell. He seems like a nice kid.

If BYU had more players like Bushman, there would be a lot less hand wringing going on.
