@memini I've heard the players that left the OHS program weren't having a blast. Perhaps, winning in a toxic environment wasn't as important to them as others. Or some value a program that teaches other valuable life lessons - that transcend sports.

In some cases, the grass is greener.

@from but not of. every single kid from OHS that won state this year had a blast. they'll remember it the rest of their lives. not sure anything else matters for high school kids.

@memini. If playing small school football & JV championships is what its all about - then yes.
things didn't work out too well for any of them......

    Good luck to Coach Whittingham!
While I don’t understand how this thread turned into a chance to talk about how fortunate anyone not playing or pulling for a team in the PAC 12 is—I’d like to say that as a Ute fan, I truly hope that we choose to stay in the PAC 12. I think we should be proud to be part of that conference. I don’t think that I’d choose to go independent in football, or to play in the WCC in basketball right now. Call me crazy. I know many BYU fans think that they have hit pay-dirt and the promised land by going that route, but I just don’t think it would be right for the Utes. No, if a BYU fan were to ask me to trade positions straight up, I’m going to have to say that I’d respectfully decline.

UTAH033. Ummmm. All those pro kids your referring to left OHS last year and went to either TV or Skyridge. Didn't work out all that well for any of them. It usually doesn't when you look for greener grass.

The PAC 12 absolutely had parity this year. The teams were all equally bad.

Do you realize the PAC 12 champion absolutely got crushed by the BIG 10 champion?

The PAC 12 is consistently the worst of the P5 conferences in football.

I think Whittingham is tired of getting outrecruited by Matich at East.

And to everyone mocking the PAC 12. Don't you understand the PAC 12 is the "conference of champions?"

I am confused. What does the article have to do with the U, BYU or PAC 12. I thought it was about a high school football retiring whose brother happens to coach the U. Other than that where is the connection.

It tells me the PAC teams were all worn out trying to beat each other in the regular season. There was a lot of parity in the PAC 12, so it was tough. Other P-5 leagues had a few top teams but the rest were mediocre.

@polo96 "Do you realize the Utes were the only team from the Pac-12 to win a bowl game out of 9 teams. That doesn't say much for the Pac-12 nationally."

Do you realize 7 of the 9 PAC 12 bowl teams played higher ranked opponents? The only real "upset" was #15 TCU beating #13 Stanford by 2 points. The Big 10 had much the same problem last year.

Chris B, I'm still not sure what your role is with the U or the PAC 12. Are you a part of these organizations, or do you just assume an affiliation as an avid fan. If it's the first, then you apparently have some insider information as to Coach Whittingham's future.
If the second, well... perhaps speaking more from a personal reference point would benefit you. Instead of "we love our membership in the PAC12", how about, "it's great to be a fan of a team in the PAC12".

Can't compete with Vivint and NanoHydr8 High School, Oh I mean with Orem High. All those kids that used to go to Timpview, they all went pro at Orem home of new uniforms every game and the state of the art facilities. Vivint Tigers!!
