"Under Trump, arrests are up by 33 percent, but deportations are down by 1.2 percent."

That's because the GOP plan is to fill private prisons, why have someone contribute to the economy and society, when tax payers can pay so much more to house feed, and guard these hardened criminals.

Socialize the costs, privatize the profits.

What sad policies the GOP foist on the foolish.

"Joe Guzzardi is a Californians for Population Stabilization senior writing fellow. Contact him at joeguzzardi@capsweb.org. Find him on Twitter @joeguzzardi19. His views do not necessarily reflect those of the Deseret News."

So why publish this drivel then? Just to get people upset? What solution is contained in this "opinion"? What national priority has been advanced by the threat of tens of thousands of youth that have known nothing more than this country (Dreamers)? What element of national security has been advanced by breaking up families?

It's all about priorities. At one moment, the administration is up in arms about latin american gangs. And yet the only people that could really "out" these gang members - people who have an actual stake in this fight - we prioritize deporting these working people and breaking up families.

If the INS got the gang issue, and smuggling issue settled, then fine.... start deporting families too. Until then, leave the guy in the taco truck or the lady making up beds in Holiday Express alone and prioritize those who really do make our neighborhoods less safe.

Just my opinion, for what its worth. It's about priorities.

Sadly, trump's harsh rhetoric has prevailed.

    Lady Liberty weeps.

Fact: If Trump's immigration platform was law 15 years ago, his wife would have been denied entrance and citizenship to our country.

Much more needs to be done, but this is a step in the right direction.

One significant change would be to actively prosecute those who hire illegal aliens.

Yup, trump is living up to his promises of hatred and his fearmongering. What a shame.

    Facts don't matter.
