Just an observation that he did not take or get the shots when he was open last game against USA. Maybe just unselfish play in some cases or his teammates not finding him.

The writers said he was the last recruit for this year and would warm the bottom of the bench.

I have watched McKay grow up; he is one of the top three kids to come out of Idaho from the prep level in the last twenty years, period! Eastern Idaho alone has a ton of talent and this kid has shown his, but what he shows even at a whole other level, is a maturity unmatched and a forgotten trait, humility. His parents should be very proud, they are the same way.

    @usalover
This kid is a better basketball player right now than Nick Emery.

You're right. They are both similarly talented physically and athletically but McKay seems to have a Bball IQ that is a few points higher and makes great decisions with the ball, ones that always seem to benefit the team or a teammate.

For a team that is in the process of changing their culture from that of a team driven by individualized play to one that is starting to learn how to play together I think Cannon gives the team what it needs more so than Emery could at this point.

HOpefully during this year off he can get refocused and ready to contribute next year as a role player on the team. Meanwhile, McKay was Heaven sent and couldn't have come at a better time.

β€œBy the way - West Jefferson High School is near nothing.”

Not sure what what you mean by that, especially when you consider that Salmon is more remote than Mud Lake.
However if you’re talking about opportunities for outdoorsmen, Salmon area is a treasure of Idaho. But still, the Mud Lake area does have some pretty good duck hunting.....πŸ˜‰

I too want to know why he left Weber State and why he did not have to sit out a year.

    Can someone explain this please.

That's why when BYU got the lead in Logan, the crowd started chanting "we want Emery".

I've watched decades of basketball. I played at the D1 level and a year overseas.

This kid is a better basketball player right now than Nick Emery.

There is NO place in Idaho that is "near nothing". A diversely beautiful state as is Utah and the other states in this great country.

Glad that the "chip" on McKay's shoulder is a computer chip. Helps to explain the excellent control he brings to the game.

Interesting he never caught my eye at Weber State. He seemed athletically limited and small. Good luck at BYU.

    Couple of questions
Why did he leave Weber and she didn't he have to sit out a year?

Shelley High School - home of the "Russets." I love it. By the way - West Jefferson High School is near nothing.

Excellent work reaching out to his coach! Very informative Mr. Harmon.

The timing couldn't had been better. He helped take down two instate schools. Can't wait to watch how he does against ready good competition like Gonzaga.
