@Big G - agreed about Dastrup. He apparently lost 40 lbs from last year and looked much quicker. Early viewpoint on Cannon ... wow. Could be a real keeper.

BYU looks much much tougher this year. Passing was great in this game and Yoeli Childs! I knew he was going to be great this year ... hope BYU can keep him for a while. Monster.

I've always been a BYU hoops fan - from the 1960s. Always an interesting team.

A little caution here....one game does not "a great player" make! I do like what he was able to deliver in the UVU game and he looks like he has some skills that can really help the Cougs...ie, lateral quickness, quick release and some range. However....he lost his starting job at Weber State for a reason.....so I am not going to rush to judgement on this kid....good or bad. I do have a question on one player on the team that I think is a sleeping giant....Payton Dastrup. This guy has some serious skills and they aren't using him much right now. He had a terrific outside and inside game in hi School....Ohio State wanted him for those reasons and more. Right now he seems to be playing too cautious...they may have him on a short leash. I know he is a little heavy right now (250 lbs)...but he is a lot lighter than he was last year, but he is much more than a wild and crazy cheer leader on the bench. Since the Y doesn't look like they are playing racehorse B-ball anymore....the coaches need to give Payton some serious playing time in the pre-season to see what he is capable of. ...without
his fear of being jerked from a game for whatever reason. Just my thoughts.....

I'm not a BYU fan, but I think I am becoming one because this kid is such a hard working humble kid who is a team player. I loved watching him play at Weber. I will watch more BYU games this year than I have in the past and I wish their team best of luck this year.
