BYU played UT-Arlington last year and this year. Lost both games. How did the
I am beginning to believe that the players on this team may be starting to buy
into the concept of the importance of team defense. As the article says, they
held UVU to just over half the point total they had last year in that Marriott
Center debacle. I was skeptical the Cougs could do it Wednesday night, but they
did and I have to give them credit. Now if they can just slow down
the Aggies up in Logan tomorrow night and escape with a W that would be better.
Likewise against Illinois State next week. Those guys will be no pushovers -
they're used to winning in the Missouri Valley conf. BYU will be hard put
to it to get the win.It would be really cool if they could get to
the point where they slow down teams like Alabama, UT- Arlington or even the
Utes in two weeks. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Better to take small
steps - one thing at a time, I suppose. For now let's hope the
Cougs return from Logan as a 6-2 team.
UVU seemed a better team, yet was stymied easily. BYU seems to be improved, but
the USU and Utah games may tell more.
Gotta hand it to them, it seems like defense is being emphasized. I get you
can't be perfect right out of the gate, but I like that there is a focus on
defense, at least just a little. If that focus continues, they will become more
Seeing that picture of Haws, my first reaction was "that's a foul
waiting to happen." Trying to defend from behind, not in a good position,
etc. Maybe it's a bad camera angle.Bryant is in a good
position, though, and is obviously altering the shot.
