@ Rockwell - Baltimore, MDSince you don't realize it yet,
i'll be the one to tell you. You're the cupcake!!inb4 the
margin of victory is brought up. 8 in a row coming up!!
Before BYU needs to schedule any additional football games in the future, they
need to address the here and now. I have yet to see the school come in and clean
house on a program that has simply hit bottom. First, it is time to get a new AD
that knows the current game. Second, decided whether you are going to build
program or call it a day. A new coaching staff with emphasis on recruiting and
development. I am tired of listening to excuses as to why BYU has a tough time.
I watched Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship game. Do you think they don't
have high academic standards? Funny that Stanford can find strong academically
qualified student-athletes and BYU complains they can't.
As a long time fan, an alumni, and a faithful season ticket holder I am very
disappointed in 2 of these 3 adds... We really need an AD that is going to push
the envelope... We need an AD that will be aggressive and take charge... We need
to stop scheduling FCS teams and weak G5 teams if we want to be taken seriously
as a true P5 caliber Program... Houston was a good get, but our AD needs to lose
the FCS teams and the Hawaii type teams at home in November... it's lazy
and it's killing our Program. These "gets" are just
further evidence IMHO of laziness and lack of clout in the world of P5
Dominance. Our AD needs to get us into a P5 Conference and if he
can't, then the Administration needs to do the right thing and get us a
HUNGRY and motivated Athletic Director that does have clout with our BOTs our
Administrators as well as clout with outside P5 Commissioners and ADs. Our current investment in facilities and in non-revenue sports, together with
our tradition should guarantee a spot in the P5 world... If not, we need to get
a Judge to demand that the unlawful discrimination (and/or anti-trust) must stop
and that BYU and other like Programs be included. Time to "man-up".
Ooh Georgia is coming to BYU?! Oh wait that's Georgia SOUTHERN! That's
right. Well, at least it isn't Georgia North Eastern?
I love how on the same board Houston is called a cupcake and it's said that
we don't have a chance against Houston - which is it?I also
love the irony of a team that floated into bowl eligibility from the BYU win by
6 points calling BYU a cupcake when even in this down year their margin of
victory was tied with the closest game BYU had in a loss. Not exactly bragging
65TPTThe vast majority of fans who are whining about BYU’s
schedule are Utah fans.
7 upWhy should Utah fans be worried? Why indeed?Yet, here you are, obsessing about another BYU scheduling announcement.
@ RockwellYour team is 50/50 against the cupcakes. And there were
plenty. So why should Utah be worried?Next year 8 in a
row! And that’s after Utah completes a big boy schedule, a 9 game Pac-12
schedule, and your team is completely rested after all those November cupcakes.
It’s been 7 years, aren’t you getting tired of those
cupcakes and a half full stadium?
It’s hilarious how obsessed Utah fans are with their closet full of
make-believe SOS trophies. This is what U are forced to resort to
when U don’t have any legitimate accomplishments to brag about.Indiana, Vanderbilt, Duke, and Rutgers football fans are sooo jealous...NOT!
I have no problem with these teams. What do you expect as an Indie? BYU fans
need to be realistic - this is our fate until we correct the ship.
@ gchris - rock springs, wyThe list you provided below are
‘Pac-12 September cupcakes’. You left one off the list, let me help
you. “[BYU]Sacramento StateIdaho StateNorthern ColoradoEastern WashingtonGrambling StateGeorgia
StateNorth DakotaTexas StateIdaho[BYU]“
WallbangerYou obviously don’t understand the difference
between content and overhead.ESPN needs content, like BYU football,
to sell. With BYU, they have state-of-the-art HD broadcasting studio
and a built in production crew, so ESPN has a vested interest in keeping BYU as
an important product to sell. After televising BYU football for
almost 35 years, ESPN knows that BYU is a dependable source of exciting
football, despite an occasional down season like 2017.
@gchris:It's interesting to Ute fans because they are and
always will be a non factor in the Pac 10.2. That way they all get to bag on
BYU's schedule about how they play a cupcake schedule while complaining all
along about their strength of schedule. In the end, the Pac 10.2 will be left
out of the playoffs again and it should show the normal college football fan
that the Pac is very weak compared to all other P-5, at this time the weakest.
It could change in the upcoming years, things seldom stay stagnet (sp). Bottom
line......Utes are near the bottom in a weak league and the Ute fan base has a
difficult time seeing that their team right now is not very good. Some, not all
only care about beating BYU. They could be 1-11 and if that one win was against
BYU, they would be happy.
gchris:“Why a mediocre Mountain West team was invited will
always be up for debate but it is what it is.”And why a MUCH
less than mediocre team was never invited, who continually loses to that
“mediocre Mtn West team” that WAS invited, won’t be up for
debate, because it is what it is! At least you guys can rest assured
that ESPN will always have your back. Oh wait, they just laid off 150 more
people a few days ago. Well, I guess you still have your “moral
victories”. And the memories of the 80s.
7 up"If the cougars are having a tough time filling the annual
November cupcake schedule, below is a list..."Thanks for your
concern, but BYU already has Utah scheduled for next November.
@ 7 in a rowOr they could just schedule some PAC12 cupcakes like Sacramento State Idaho
State Northern Colorado Eastern
Washington Grambling State Georgia
State North Dakota Texas State
Idaho See, 7, we all get it by now that Utah is in the
PAC12. Why a mediocre Mountain West team was invited will always be up for
debate but it is what it is. BYU is not in a P5 conference and must schedule as
an independent. They will play Wisconsin, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan State,
Georgia Tech, and most of the PAC12 when they can get those games and will have
to fill the schedule with some lesser teams when they have to. Why is that fact
so interesting to Ute fans?
Navelvet SOS weak?Clueless, as usual.Have
you seen BYU’s 2020 schedule?
@65I think the Utes are just trembling with the thought of UCLA
becoming something other than the ‘soft team’ which they have been
for some time now. And it looks like ASU’s arrogant AD just
took a major step backwards with their new hire. Both teams seem to
have plenty of cash to throw around or waste. I’ve lost track how many new
coaches have been hired since Utah joined the Pac-12. So whats new?
If the cougars are having a tough time filling the annual November cupcake
schedule, below is a list of regulars that fill the SEC schedule that same
month. Chattanooga MercerLouisiana MonroeTroyUMassGeorgia SouthernWagnerULL Ragin CajunsCoastal
CarolinaAppalatin StateSam HoustonNew Mexico StateIt’s probably a good thing the MWC plays only 8 conference games as
those teams are closer to Utah. When you are an independent, you
havn’t scheduled right unless you travel east of the Mississippi three
times a season, even on back to back weekends.
Are BYU fans supposed to be excited by these matchups?? uh, no.
I don't have a problem with any of those teams; it's got to be really
tough to fill a schedule as an independent.
Houston played BYU very well a few years ago, BYU won both but both were hard
games to win.So I wouldn't say that BYU doesn't have a
chance, it's a 2-0 history.Of course this year they might have
lost, but who knows about the coming games, should be a great series.I'm also happy to see Hawaii playing again, those were some fun games in
the WAC days.
I like most of the games, but let's get to Atlanta and play Ga Tech!
Go easy on Red Robin - with the entrance of Chip Kelly to the Utes schedule,
loitering on a BYU story is therapeutic.
@Max-was-convictedSmack talk? It was a transcript. Don't you
know a transcript when you see one?
If this is not something to get excited about then I dont know what would be.
Awesome scheduling that enhances byu's national prominence. so cool
Brave sir, that is the weakest attempt at smack talk ever. Is that really the
best you can come up with? wow, no wonder blue Pepsi machines offend you
Tom Holmoe: "Kalani, what happened this year?"Kalani Sitake:
"Schedule was too hard, boss."Tom Holmoe: "But it was already
pretty easy after the first month."Kalani Sitake: "I know, but the
only way to fix this is make the schedule even worse. Can you do that?"Tom Holmoe: "Hold my beer...errrrrr, my Diet Coke."
Glad to see them schedule a game with Houston 17 years ago. They may have a
