Coaching should probably be higher. The game was fantastic until that last decision. Pretty gutsy calls. I'd give it an A- or a B+ at least.

That was called "pulling defeat from the jaws of victory." Utah had that game won when they stopped Washington on 4th down and then gave it away with poor defense and the notoriously infamous timeout with 22 seconds left. Here is a critical play that doesn't get mentioned - on Utah's last drive, Huntley ran for what appeared to be a first down, but he fumbled and recovered the ball behind the first down marker. That made it 4th and 1. If he gets that first down - the game is over. Instead, Washington takes over and is content to play for overtime until Whittingham begs them to go for the win.

Whittingham clearly rolled the dice one too many times in his desperate attempt to "get aggressive" in the final seconds of the game.

The timeout didn't cause the loss. Not getting a first down in the last drive caused the loss. You can't leave time on the clock for Washington.

27-35 is your PAC 12 record. Maybe you should not be hounding BYU so much for not being a P-5.

Better to just hound us for horrific season on its face. Cause it’s been really really really really really really really really bad. That’s Reallys if your counting.

    Blah.

The closing minute of the game was a shocker. Calling a timeout makes no sense on any level. I would have taken my chances in OT. I think the Utah coaches did pretty well up until that last minute. Then all common sense seemed to slip out of their grasp.
Still just don't understand the call. I hope Kyle offers some insight into what he was thinking.

What have we learned boys and girls?

    *Whittingham = Dunderpate

*The Red Tailed Hawks have come home to roost.

*Karma returns from Whitt's onside kick against Wyoming.

That time out call was simply put, stupid. What was he thinking? The coach was singly responsible for losing a winnable game. They might have well lost in overtime, but given the OT rules, I would bet on the ability of the Ute defense and Taylor's offensive knowledge. Simply a really poor decision.

Utah coaching a C-? I guess we're only judging the last offensive series? Sorry but that grade is ridiculous, the Utah coaching was pretty fantastic in this one. They made some gutsy calls on special teams (that all worked) as well as 4th downs. Utah also mixed things up pretty well defensively and remember that the three best players on defense didn't play due to injuries. I'm not sure coaching goes from an A or A- down to a C- just because Whitt made a questionable decision to call timeout after UW looked like they were going to run the clock out. Not a great decision but at most that drops coaching to a B or B-.

Observation: The "prevent defense" usually prevents winning.

Great effort by the Utes and a real heartbreaker, but have to get the offensive line-thing fixed for next year. It seemed like Huntley had two Washington defenders in his face on just about every play. They couldn’t even get out of the way on some of the running plays.

I really hope a statistician runs the data that shows the odds of the game working out as Kyle hoped when he called timeout. To me, it was about as smart as taking a hit on two face cards when the dealer is showing a 12.
