Getting a win was nice but I was frustrated by the 2nd half offense because I
saw a lot of the same old garbage calls and poor execution by Mangum. Maybe it
was more Mangum I don't know but he still showed he rushed throws, made bad
throws, didn't show patience or show he could go through his reads ( he did
better at that in the first half ) but reverted to how he had played the first 7
games in the 2nd half. Receivers dropped balls showed lack of concentration ,
if SJS wasn't so bad those things would have killed us. Hoping for
continued improvement & more wins but B+ was way too high a grade, C+ would
B+ makes me giggly. I guess it's graded on a huge curve but still not even
close to a B+. Many high school teams in Utah could have rolled SJSU.
A win is a win, but how a team wins is important, also. The victory over
Portland State almost seemed like a loss. This one was much more exciting and
execution was much better and BYU played as the much superior team. However, the same old issues were still present: stupid and costly penalties,
head scratchingly bad throws by Mangum, dropped passes, and often too much time
in the pocket for the SJ quarterback. But, it was a good win and this will
hopefully set the tone for the rest of the season.
I wouldn't read much into this "win". Here is hoping this is the
first step into building towards a much more successful season next year. At
least it provided the fans something to cheer about. But let's not see
this as anything more than it really was.
Left some points on the field, but good to get the "W". Hall was a
bright spot and so was Critchlow. Enjoyed the game!Go Cougs!
Good win but this was far from a B+ game against a truly awful San Jose State
team. Some of the same big problems were still there. Struggling to capitalize
on big opportunities, stupid penalties and stupid mistakes negating big plays,
questionable play calling...With all the turnovers committed by SJSU, BYU
should have easily scored 70 pts. But a win is a win and I’ll take it.
41-20 is a beautiful score today!
True red. For example remember when Utah was actually ranked and the fans were
spouting off about it? It is all relative.
Looking good is all relative.
