Jon Huntsman is a superb choice for this role at a critical time, and would be an even better choice for POTUS.

Ambassador Huntsman joins that small group of men keeping us from chaos and WW III, to use Senator Corker's language. Many years back when I was working in epidemiology at the Cannon Health Building I shook then Governor Huntsman's hand. Little did I know that in those hands the fate of my family might rest in part.

I do feel a bit better with Huntsman in the mix, but not a whole lot.

We don't normally have to offer a statement of confidence to an appointed ambassador, do we?

I have little confidence in Huntsman. The author of our shamefully regressive flat state tax worries me. His early support of Trump worries me still more. Just what kind of a man is Jon Huntsman Jr? Does anyone really know?

"His task is made difficult by the unconventional approach to foreign policy so far exhibited by the Trump administration."

Unconventional? That's the best you can do? How about juvenile? How about extremely dangerous? I've wondered if the D-News understands the gravity of our current situation with Trump, as you are so quiet about it.

"There is evidence that Russian-backed operatives attempted to influence the 2016 election, and there are investigations into whether advertisements placed online and on social media were intended by Russia to sow ongoing conflict and division among U.S. voters. "

Here again, I have to go to other media sources to find out what's going on with the Mueller inquiry. You are so quiet about it.

@Chessermesser "He is a rich man’s son, who has ridden on the coattails of his father’s donations to the Republican Party."

Well I think he has the experience to do the job and can put some space between himself and Trump. Rich man's son? In this instance I don't care.

I disagree. When he was a presidential candidate he showed that he flip-flopped on issues. He is a rich man’s son, who has ridden on the coattails of his father’s donations to the Republican Party.

He will have no success with Putin. A waste of time. I think after getting settled in Moscow, he ought to take the grand tour of Siberian gulags. At least then, the embassy’s staff can work in peace.

I am pretty sure that Huntsman is greatly relieved that he has the DN's 'full confidence'. Do you folks comprehend how silly that makes you sound? Do you think anyone cares whether you have full confidence in him or not?

You folks certainly have a high opinion of yourselves. . . I would like to buy you for what you are worth and sell you for what you think you are worth.
