My heart has been so heavy since the shooting. I can't get my mind off of all the innocent people losing their lives, being wounded...all because of a human being that lost control of his senses. What is it we are to learn from this tragedy? I ponder, worry and cry over what this has done to our United States of America...we must pray for strength for others and also for ourselves that we will be strong, compassionate and continue to love our Father in Heaven and be a C
    hrist-like example to the world.

I'm not sure I'm in favor of outright banning gun ownership, but the so-called common sense gun restrictions like banning assault weapons and keeping domestic abusers from owning guns, make a lot of sense to me.

I recently read an article that said gerrymandering is largely responsible for keeping politicians in office that oppose gun control (possibly due to the powerful NRA lobbyists). Gerrymandering is also an issue that the Supreme Court is about to take up. Here's hoping that the Supreme Court will put rules into place that reduce gerrymandering enough that the gun control opponents will go out of power. I'm willing to try the experiment of gun control, to see if it has some effect on lessening the atrocities we see happening over and over again in different parts of the United States.

These events seem to be a sign of the times, even the last days before Christ's return:

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape" (1 Thessalonians 5:3); for mass killings will increase in frequency and intensity, as a pregnant woman in travail, until mortals either ‘get it’ or the world continues its downward spiral into human emotional chaos.

The statement, almost a poetic prayer.

A very thoughtful statement to address this heartbreaking event...Prayers for the victims and their family members and friends; for those who responded to others needing help; for the leaders of our great country...for all of us.
