I am sure this new theater will please those with lots of money. I used to be a
season ticket holder and loved the HCT in WVC. It was an easy 30 minute drive
from my house in No. Davis County. I loved to bring my children from time to
time and also to see families bring their children to the theater and get
exposed to high quality arts! The season ticket prices and individual show
ticket prices were within my one-earner income budget. Now, with this new HCT
theater in Sandy, I am priced out! I hope that HCT will follow the lead of
theaters like Carnegie Hall in NYC and offer tickets to lower income area
schools so that those kids can have some class art experiences in their lives.
Also, the thought of facing the traffic battle to get to and from Sandy for
shows is not appealing. As for me, my wife and I are now turning to Centerpoint
theater and The Terrace (in Ogden area). Gratefully, the quality of their actors
and directors has significantly improved. I will miss the theater in the round
experience however. Shame on HCT for not taking WVC's offer to build next
to the current WVC site. It's central valley location would probably have
kept more customers, like me.
