"Land of the midnight sun"? Not quite. It's the "land of the rising sun".

Errors in the article aside, I'm excited to read this book. I've read others about the history of the church in Japan and I'm sure this will only add to those narratives.

I was Dr. Takagi's home teacher in Virginia when I was in law school across the street from the International Monetary Fund where he worked. He is a brilliant guy.

I had the privilege of reviewing some of the manuscript of Shinji's book before it was published. He has written an extremely thorough and detailed history of the early Church in Japan. It has been a life work for him, and I am thrilled to see it in print. It is a treasure for those of us who have served missions in Japan.

Japan is the land of the "rising sun" not the midnight sun. Even the northernmost tip of Hokkaido is dark at midnight on in June.
