    Hey Illuminated -

"Interesting that the left doesn't want this. What's the matter, don't want the facts to get in the way with your story?"

Who doesn't want it? As a Moderate I can't speak for Left (And obviously neither can you), but I haven't heard anyone on the left object to Comey being intereviewed.

I think it should be in public though, just as Comey wants it, so everything can be revealed instead of just select tidbits edited by Chaffetz and his fellow Congressional Republicans.

Besides, Chaffetz deserves one more opportunity to show exactly how horrible he is as the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

You write: "Comey memos should be investigated from the beginning of the Obama administration to the time of his firing."
Impossible. Obama inaugurated in 2009. Comey sworn into office in September 2013.
Should we also blame Obama for 9/11 because he wasn't in the Oval Office working hard to prevent it before it happened?

Jim Cobabe: "After the gigantic media-wide mistake in calling the last Presidential campaign, I think they merit zero credibility."

The media failed to accurately predict a future event, therefore their credibility in reporting on past events has zero merit? Flawless logic.

It frightens me that a few unelected journalists can so easily influence government leadership and almost instantly sway public sentiment through sophistry and propaganda. After the gigantic media-wide mistake in calling the last Presidential campaign, I think they merit zero credibility. It has to be Russians manipulating public opinion. Warrants an immediate special investigation.

Your Hillary song is old and tired.

What would Mr. Trump have to do to make his supporters disagree, even a little, with him? I doubt there is anything at all.

    "They have no memo . . . "

What are you going to say when the memo is released? Jason Chaffetz will subpoena it if necessary. However, it won't be necessary because James Comey will produce it and the other memos of his interactions with Donald Trump when he testifies.

Will you accept responsibility for supporting a cabal of lies? Why is it always the same old, same old with Trump people. They make up excuses and try to divert the discussion in sorry attempts to cover up.

Apparently you have not been aware of Comey's propensity to write memos to guard against misrepresentation. We are all eager to see the memos he has written regarding his conversations with Trump and the lies he tells. Trump is only interested in what is in his own selfish interests and will abandon those who have not sworn allegiance to himself and signed non-disclosure agreements to maintain the false story he tells.

As regards Hillary and the Russian uranium, you watch too much Fox propaganda for you complaint to have any level of credibility. It is suggested you find a better source for your information.

After sorting through all the hyperbole, sensationalism, and other nonsense, it sounds like Trump maybe, yes maybe, maybe not, said to Comey that he hoped that Comey could just drop the investigation of Flynn. Maybe. I wish I could capitalize the word hoped. This does not sound like pressure. No threat. No intimidation. Just a hope.

Time will tell whether rich and crooked power mongers threatened by Trump policies are twisting words and trumping up charges at every turn to protect the status QUO, or maybe Trump just lacks the political skills to avoid loading the guns pointed at his head.

Anyway, most of the country voted either Not Hillary or Not Trump and Trump had the most palatable VP opton for post impeachment replacement.

    Interesting --

Jason Chaffetz never makes clear it is a PUBLIC hearing,
Congress only "secret combination" only to protect Lord Trump type of hearing.

Breaking just now. Apparently Comey broke a law for not reporting this allegation to the DoJ. He could go be prosecuted for that. He can still recant, but either way he's in a lot of hot water.

Trump declared war on the deep state in his inauguration speech. He insulted the most powerful people on the planet for the last 30 years - straight to their faces.

This is what that war looks like. Don't get down, this is what a bitter fight looks like. It means that Trump is on top of the target. This brutal attack is a total diversion for the Seth Rich story that is the True scandal.

Stay on target. We've got these people right where we want them.

Even if the Trump/Comey meeting was videotaped by six news networks, you would still be supporting Trump, wouldn't you?

There is no point where your support of Trump can ever stop.

    Isn't that about right?

I remember when certain posters told us that "Flynn" was just fake news and that he had no contact with the Russians and there was no proof.

Much like Kelly and Spicer, Trump will make those who defend him look chumps, because he can't even keep his "stories" straight.

Chaffetz, hopefully will do the right thing...hopefully.

"This is a scary country we live in now."

I agree. We are in a very bad place right now. I blame both republicans and democrats for our current state today. The far left and the far right have both lost any sense of objectivity in critical matters facing our nation today, and they dominate the news stories with their slanted positions. Add a news media that, for the greater point, has lost the trust of the American people, and this is what we get.

We should have seen this coming when the people at the top of the presidential election tickets for these parties were Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton.

Sadly, without concrete evidence of this "memo" the NYT is referring to, I will have a very hard time believing anything James Comey says to the House Committee. I think we have an epidemic in our country today, and it involves misrepresenting the facts, falsifying information and at times outright lying.

"How about Hillary Clinton appear before the House Commitee to investigate her Uranium deal with Russia which deposited 2.5 million into her bank account?"

How about Hillary Clinton appear before the House Commitee to investigate her Uranium deal with Russia which deposited 2.5 million into her bank account? You wouldn't be interested in that would you. I didn't think so. While Comey is before the House Commitee lets do a DEEP DIVE into why he dismissed (illegally) the Clinton case regarding her private email server a week after Billy Bob Clinton met on a private jet with the AD Lynch -- not to discuss their favorite summer bar-b-q recipes I suspect. Clinton commited felony after felony and they all mysterially get wiped away after Comey decided (illegally) to just dismiss all charges. He didn't have that authority. It is interesting how liberals turn a blind eye to all the corruption on their side isn't it. Nothing to see here folks. Ya well the American people arent that stupid to believe the lies from the Democrats and their media as seen in the 2016 election.

What responsibility does the NY Times have? What if there is no memo? What if there is a memo but it doesn't say or even imply what they printed? Can a large paper dump fake news that damages repuations at will? Do we in the US have ANY standards or accountabilities for a news paper? IF I am PResident Trump I meed with my legal team and I sue the NY Times for slander and purposeful fake news. I also sue Comey for any part he may have had in generating this fake news. The ONLY way to shut these slanderous sewers of propaganda down is hit them in the wallet and perhaps send some of them to jail. Also if I am president Trump I am shutting down my press conferences. Someone is leaking confidential intel and exaggerating it to the press. I think the president needs to take a close look at those around him --- every low level staffer -- and see who the leaker is. I suspect the leaker is being paid by the DNC. I suspect Chuck Schumer knows who the leaker is -- he most likely hired him. The Democrats are bottom feeders in the worst way. They have NO solutions for policy -- just fake news.

How would you like it if your local newspaper printed the head line in bold letters saying that you sexually assaulted a young girl. No proof -- no witness -- nothing but rumors. Let's say you are 100% innocent but never the less the story is all over town. Supposidly the paper claims someone took a memo in a conversation that they had with you where you admitted to the assault ...but the paper doesn't have the memo...they just heard about it. So now your reputation is gone even if the whole thing is a lie. Correct? What would you do? Well you would have to sue the paper for damages.

So the NY Times does the EXACT same thing as I describe above. They have no memo -- if they did they would have published it OR they would immediately meet with the congressional oversight commitee and hand them the memo....but neither has happened.

So we now live in a world where there are no standards of journalism -- ANYTHING can be prinited with zero evidence. So the left is loving it because they hate Trump but lest they forget the same thing could turn the other way on them -- accusations with no evidence. This is a scary country we live in now.

Is Donald Trump a Russian agent? Obviously he is a Russian asset since the Russians worked very hard to help him win the White House. Now with current revelation of providing the Russians with confidential information unlike anything we have seen previously, he certainly does not think them as a hostile state. In fact, with recent disclosure of trying to shut down the Trump-Russia investigation, it appears clear to investigate this much more fully.

Jason Chaffetz needs to go full bore. Since he no longer will remain in Congress, Chaffetz is not as tied to partisan loyalty as before and can now put nation before party. We will see where this all goes, but those who support Trump must also accept responsibility for the man they elected to run this country. Apparently they need to recognize they selected an authoritarian demagogue who has made the United States a subsidiary of the Trump Organization in his mind and is trying to finalize the hostile take-over of our government through his blatant disregard for our institutions and customs.

Supporters are complicit in the firing of James Comey and the leaking of American intelligence if they do not condemn these actions.

I have to admit that I completely agree with Chaffetz on this one. And the sooner the better.

Now the next question is: What will Jason do if the memo and testimony from Comey indicate that Donald should be charged with obstructing justice?

THAT will be the REAL test.

But for now, at least, kudos to Chaffetz.
