SoonerUte"At Oklahoma, the visitor section has their backs to
the new 7,849 square foot video board in the south end zone. Wait, what? Other
schools have video boards behind a section of fans??"Are you
trying to claim that other schools don't treat potential season tickets any
better than they treat visitors?
UoU 1991 "that, or move the MUSS to the South End Zone."or move
the visitors. At Oklahoma, the visitor section has their backs to the
new 7,849 square foot video board in the south end zone. Wait, what? Other
schools have video boards behind a section of fans??
This AD is like Brewster's millions - so much new money he can't dream
up enough dumb ways to spend it all. Meanwhile, the well respected
CEO of the Huntsman Cancer Institute was fired over a money issue.Seems to me our state school's priorities are messed up when the U of U
is willing to endure a scandal and major lawsuits over the abrupt firing of HCI,
yet they quickly fork over $4 million for a stupid scoreboard. It's time to
put some of that PAC-12 money to better use fighting cancer instead of dreaming
up new ways to waste it.
Football Stadium Scoreboard Sizes:BYU North: 51 feet 3 inches wide
and 34 feet 4 inches high (1,765 square feet)BYU South: 51 feet 4 inches
wide and 33 feet 7 inches high (1,732 square feet)Utah South: 118
feet wide and 89 feet high (10,502 square feet)Since the scoreboard
will be BEHIND almost all of the seats in the expanded stadium, Utah will have
to do some fast talking to explain why new season ticket holders won't be
able to see the scoreboard...that, or move the MUSS to the South End
UteanymousGotta feel sorry for the 5,000 or so fans in RES that
leave every game with a sore neck from constantly having to turn around to even
see the only screen.
Expanding to 50,000 would be just about right for the commuter school.
SoonerUteTogether, BYU's two smaller, yet very large screens,
are larger than than Utah's single screen, with the advantage of not having
the only screen BEHIND an entire section of fans.
banliberals "We have since upgraded our shiny new ones several times and now
we have two at our stadium"Wow! A couple of small screens is an
efficient way to go. Maybe they could add some more screens, tuned to different
games. You know -- give the crowd something to do during the November part of
I think the negative started with Utah hires some coaches how should have been
let out and were kept around manly urban Myers and rick Majarse so as you get
after Byu look at your Coaches you hire.I do think The current
football coaches have come a long way with this and agree with others that it is
great Utah and Byu are doing well
SoonerUte asks...Thanks! When will you get a new one for football?I
think the first one was installed at BYU was in 1984 when we were National
champs! That was about the same time our new stadium was finished to hold
80,000 and you finished yours to hold 12,500......We have since
upgraded our shiny new ones several times and now we have two at our stadium and
have been there for a couple of years....but thanks for asking!
Ron Swanson "That expansion decision should have been made 20 years
ago."It kind of was decided 20 years ago. When the architects
designed the stadium's Olympic make over, the plan allowed future expansion
by filling in the south end zone and boxes on the east side.Cougsrit
- "Congratulations for Utah basketball on getting brand new shiny and safe
scoreboard. We love our new one and know that you will love yours too."Thanks! When will you get a new one for football?
@ arrogant chickenYou say "If only Hill hadn't let coach
80k run away from playing BYU."You guys (BYU fans) have really
got to let this go. The general feeling among much of our fan base is that your
football and basketball teams don't show good sportsmanship like they may
have years ago. Proof? The embarrassing Miami Brawl, Langi's cheap shot
on the Utah State player, the lineman's unbelievable hit below the belt on
the Boise State player, and, most recently, Emery's sucker punch on Taylor
in basketball.Your coaches and administration need to do more to
condemn this continued behavior. I doubt very much that it is gathering the
kind of attention that you want at your school. Meanwhile,
we'll choose who we want to compete against.
For the negative Y fans that like to post here, I have a simple reply. I would
much rather hear my AD talking about stadium expansion than to have my AD
talking about how the school 'was close' to getting in a P5
conference.Dr. Hill has done a very good job getting Utah into the PAC 12
and then making the athletic program competitive in the conference.
With Chris Hill at the helm the football stadium expansion my see 60000 seats by
2095! Good on you Chris, are you by chance related to Dr. Lee at the Huntsman
Cancer? You administrate similarly!
How are they just now deciding to start studying stadium expansion? That
decision should have been made 20 years ago. We need a better game day
My expectation is they'll replace they remove the south building and
completely enclose the SEZ to increase seating capacity to around 55,000.Parking needs a working solution.btw, the word is
"loges" not "lodges" unless Hill is planning to open a KOA in
“But all kidding aside, it just seems like I say something (and) it may be
taken wrong by either our fans or somebody else’s fans.”Or the State Legislature, perhaps.......
PAC12 money sure helps,
Congratulations for Utah basketball on getting brand new shiny and safe
scoreboard. We love our new one and know that you will love yours too.
