    +1 like. Absolutely! This is one of the unsung benefits of the death penalty. It provides leverage for convictions.

    He pled to avoid the death penalty. Otherwise he could have appealed a life sentence without parole until the cows come home. Hence, one of the unique and needed benefits of the State keeping the death penalty as an option.
