    Not that difficult to understand, it's called "local interest." Jimmer still has a big following here even if he doesn't in Durham. If Carlos Boozer hadn't played for the Jazz I doubt he would have been mentioned.

    It is because Jimmer was player of the year in college, a huge celebrity, and he's entertaining, unlike the majority of the NBA today. He was a phenom and people like to see a crazy scorer. Most NBA players toil in obscurity.

    You would think he is the only LDS kid to get a chance to play in the NBA. I wonder why he is so much more special and deserving of this minute by minute coverage he enjoys, while others are actually playing in the NBA, and get only a fraction of the attention. Nothing against him, not at all. But he is playing in China..... any other NBA washouts get this much coverage?
