In November 1832, one month before before Joseph wrote about the rebellion "at South Carolina", a historical event called the Nullification Crisis occurred. The state attempted to nullify federal law.

Jackson informed state he would invade with federal troops if they succeeded.

This crisis was written about throughout the country, including in Joseph's local paper in Kirtland.

If anything, this could be called a false prophesy, as the situation was resolved.
