February 11, 2017 PRIME MINISTER ABE: (As interpreted.) North Korea's most recent missile launch is absolutely intolerable. North Korea must fully comply with the relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions.
During the summit meeting that I had with President Trump, he assured me that the United States will always with Japan 100 percent. And to demonstrate his determination, as well as commitment, he is now here with me at this joint press conference.
President Trump and I myself completely share the view that we are going to promote further collaboration between the two nations and also we are going to further reinforce our alliance. That is all from myself.
PRESIDENT TRUMP: Thank you very much, Mr. Prime Minister. I just want everybody to understand and fully know that the United States of America stands behind Japan, its great ally, 100 percent. Thank you.

I am also not from Utah therefore, Mr. Chaffetz is not my representative. I do want the House Oversight Committee to do it's job. I called Mr. Chaffetz office but they will not talk to me because I'm not in his district. Because the work of this committee affects the entire nation I highly recommend spending a minute to look up the members of the committee and if they are in your district giving them a call to see if the members can persuade Chaffetz to do his job.

Good start, l hope he adds Russia, product endorsement, product denouncement, lying to the public, failure to investigate voter fraud claims, etc... to his list of investigations.

What about Hillary's emails and Benghazi?

All that seems like small stuff now!

Jason, you are in over your head and you have no place to run.

If I were to go to work and perform like Chaffetz I would soon be out of work.

Who investigates him? or does he like his job that is above reproach?

Instead of doing his job for real now he has to figure a way to posture his lack of real substantive interest into something that resembles work.

Jason your job is not house dressing, people depend on you.

Is it just me or does it appear that Chaffetz would rather gargle with Drano than do anything to upset Czar Trump.

I'm sorry it is taking the happenings as discussed in the article to get Mr Chaffetz moving. Government cannot be run like a business. There has to be questions and oversight. It is about time action is happening. Do your job, Mr Chaffetz. Investigate the goings on in the whitehouse like you did the dems.

I only wish he had as much zeal as he did with Hillary's emails, but this is a good start. Next up: Russian ties!

Ask which Trump agents contacted Russian agents prior to election and when money was exchanged. The Mara Lago security breach was just a clown show.

To me the political apathy of the voters in Utah is appalling.

Scandals of the majority party are a non issue to many.

It is no wonder to me that with out microphones or an orderly process to speak people chanted "Do Your Job!" at the last town hall meeting.

Personal feeling we will now just have Republican "Infomercials" (Telephone Town Halls) that will pass for town hall meetings that we can listen to rather than see our representatives in person.

Just exactly how many people actually listen into those telephone town hall meetings?

Kelly Ann Conway should be disciplined. If she was just a ditzy blonde you could understand her doing a stupid thing pushing Ivanke's business interests from the White House. But, she has a law degree so she was certainly taught something about ethics and ethical behavior.

Follow the money. That is always enlightening starting with Trumps tax returns and looking at all his potential conflicts of interest. We are a country. Not a business you can just do a bankruptcy on when it all goes south or you want to make a buck and run. This is about the safety and security of our country and having an accountable government. We have right to ask for that. We pay the tab for all of them.

    @Just want to know.....

Your argument sounds a lot like that of someone pulled over on the side of the highway, pleading to the cop that everyone else is speeding.

Your guy ran on a promise of cleaning out Washington, draining the swamp, and making America great again. Many of us "liberal trolls" were skeptical, but your guy won. Now the swamp seems to be deeper and deeper.

If there's criminal activity, it should be prosecuted. No matter what. And if politicians spend a lot of time strongly implying such activity, but never providing enough evidence to justify charges, then chances are good they're showboating windbags.

We can at least agree that Mr. Chaffetz--and the oversight committee that he chairs--need to do the job they were sent to Washington to do: investigate any appearance of malfeasance, on behalf of the American people.

Wow this is it? Com'n Chef if your going to deploy diversionary tactics they are going to have to be a little more earnest than this. A pitiful effort that highlights you will not take on the tough tasks that are at hand. The pubic is not that as ignorant as you thing Mr. Chaffetz.

    But...but...but... Hilary!!

I'll see your email server and raise you a National Security Briefing about a current international situation on a patio at a golf course and a National Security Advisor involved in illegal acts with Foreign leaders and senior White House staff currently using private servers and...

Never mind. Investigate Ms. Clinton again. 15th time is the charm.

Oh boy, just got through reading the Comments to this article. The Democrat trolls are out today, aren't they? It's amazing how enlightened you are the past four weeks, and were so blinded the whole eight years before as to any actions/no action that President Obama had. It is so very interesting!

Watching Chaffetz get on board here is like watching a child learn to ride a bike.

This White House is in flames. How incompetent and compromised do we look in the eyes of the world? This administration is so partisan, reckless, and arrogant. Chaffetz will contort himself into any number of pretzel-like positions before he'll roll up his sleeves and investigate boss master Trump.

This is very reminiscent of the first few days after the Watergate break-in. That was a "third rate burglary" remember?

There is much more to investigate than Mar-a-Lago. Fox 13 News Utah and CNN both just reported that the president knew for weeks about Flynn. CNN reported that Trump was informed on January 26th, so he has known about it for a long time. Even more astounding, more Republicans (!) are comin on board asking for an investigation, including Mitch McConnell. McConnell is a shrewd politician. So, Mr. Chaffetz, get busy!!!

I am not from Utah therefore, Mr. Chaffetz is not my representative. However, the way he performs as Chairman of the House Oversight Committee has an impact in the whole nation.

Mr. Chaffetz, please stop your childish behavior and start working and facing your responsibilities as a grown up. The cold War was real and Putin is a product of the KGB.

It is sad that we cannot expect from President Trump to give what he doesn't have. But you Mr. Chaffetz have no excuse. You do know better. At least, you should.

I'm glad to hear that he is willing to do something about anything at this point. Why aren't the other members of the committee speaking out about what is happening? Expediency for himself and party by Chaffetz is winning the day, rather than loyalty to country.

Really? With Trump & company's relationship & business dealings with Russia, Chaffetz wants to ask about security at his hotel? That's like asking about the 911 terrorists choice of airline meals instead of their political connections.

  • GaryO Virginia Beach, VA
    Feb. 14, 2017 3:43 p.m.

Chaffetz is asking questions about that?!

The Russians put Trump into office, and Chaffetz thinks Mara-a-lago is more important?

The clandestine activity of Trump's lackeys centers around our nation's greatest geopolitical foe and Putin. And Chaffetz thinks Mara-a-lago is more important?

The Russians altered our electoral process for the purpose of weakening our nation, and Chaffetz thinks Mara-a-lago is more important?

It makes one wonder, doesn't it?

What kind of a deal did Trump and the Russians cut with Jason Chaffetz?

  • Furry1993 Ogden, UT

Good start, Chaffetz. Now get started REALLY doing your job. Go after 45's tax returns, information on his business dealings, investigation concerning Flynn's contact with the Russians, investigation concerning the Russian intrusion/hack of the election, etc. The ethics issues with 45 are much, much larger than the Mar-a-Lago security protocol. Do your job.

And I'm sure he'll pursue each of these investigations with as much vigor as he put into the never-ending hearings on Hillary Clinton's emails.

So long as the cameras are rolling, at least.
