They need to consider that for many wages have been stagnant for years as everything goes up. Stagnant wages are the real issue that needs to be addressed. People can pay more when they make more.

Surprise surprise, yet another round of tax increase. Never ever a review of your current budget, never ever live within the budget you have. Irresponsible politicians raising every tax they can think of. One would think you are in Taxafornia. Time to vote these taxers out of office.

Raise the tax on business properties only, not residents.

Ugh! More tax and spend democrats in Provo?! No new taxes! Don't tread on me!

    Oh wait, they're republican? Oh...

Utah is notorious for giving handouts to businesses like all Howe office buildings in draper and Lehi and for shopping malls like Provo towne center and university mall. Perhaps instead of asking more and more for residents we should ask businesses to slap some skin into the game?

I support John Curtis and he has done many good things for our city. But Provo has huge challenges ahead that come from population growth. The city could double its size within a generation, Utah County certainly but Provo with its temple will be a huge hub of activity. Infrastructure has to keep up and ss Catholic in Utah has pointed out, we have it pretty good with property taxes. But one thing needs to be done, cities need to stop selling the farm for businesses, they need to pay their fair share rather than just passing those on to the residents. Too much of that has gone in Utah.

Provo- the bastion of conservatism in Utah. They rail against any tax by the Feds or a Democrat. Utah County's Mike Lee shut down the government saying government needs to reduce costs. Why won't they follow their own advice & platform? Get rid of mid-management bureaucrats to lighten the costs. Oh wait, those would be someone's relatives & friends. Better raise taxes.

We moved to Utah from Illinois in April 2015.

There (IL) our property taxes (in 2013 and 2014) were $4.33 per sq ft of home.

Here (UT) our property taxes (in 2015) were $0.76 per sq ft of home.

I wouldn't complain too loudly if I lived in Provo.
