Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you Deseret News for finally getting rid of these "load 35 pages to see 35 pictures" articles! It's about time! I could add a thousand more exclamation points here!

"no question beautiful architecture however if you have ever visited one of these the 'feeling' I get is emptiness."

Then you are doing it wrong. I'm an atheist but find that what man is capable of creating in his buildings, paintings, and music marvelous despite the "source of inspiration." I have no use for any belief system but will be brought to tears in a second by the musical majesty of Handel's Messiah or Beethoven's Missa solemnis.

@patriot, considering all the sweat, tears, blood, faith and sacrifice that was spend on theses church construction; it is difficult to understand how one could stand in their presence and feel emptiness. However, one may wonder if all the cost may have been better spend in constructing water, sewer, roads, schools and other essential infrastructure systems.

Strange list with a propensity for modern design. There are dozens of churches scattered throughout Italy that I'd place above many of these.

Overall, some very beautiful churches and cathedrals. But no list of churches is complete without La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, as well as St. Peter's in the Vatican City (as cliché as that one may be).

The most beautiful church I have ever seen is they Heydon Trust chapel in Bermuda. It is the smallest chapel in Bermuda, built in the early 1600s. It's beauty is in it's simplicity. It is surrounded by acres of rolling countryside overlooking the bay. You'll feel the spirit much more there than in a grand opulent cathedral.

Is it just my computer, or does everyone have this issue: when I expand to full screen, I can't see the caption describing the church and it's location?

Le Catedral de Notre Dam in Paris gets my vote. The intricacy of its front facade is unequaled in the other 34 examples, my opinion.
