Binghams Defense has a great MIX!5 seniors, 3 of which have played for 3
straight years.3 SOPHMORES, #49 sophmore, #8 sophmore, #89 Junior,
#41 sophmore.ha it is what happens when you have GOOD Coaching. The defense is the smallest I have seen in 10 years, but when you are
coached right, and in your gaps ALL the time, and all your boys are ATHLETIC,
you will have a hard time.Bingham let one run happen on a missed
assignment by the LB, thats IT! But my hat is tipped to the BIG
HERRIMAN boys. this was a battle, but I did see that the big boys could not deal
with the SPEED of the Bingham LB's. If they had a QB they would
be totally fine. but again this years state title is going through BINGHAM OR
JORDAN. Brighton just lost Drew Jensen for the season with a knee
injury, THERE Line for the bengals has shown they lost 5 senios but they will
only get better. Bingham might lose 30-0 this weekend with how YOUNG
there offensive line looks.
Well put it this way. Every coach that I've spoken to from Bingham in the
last week, and it's been more than a couple, has said they think this is
the best defense they have had at Bingham. And it's 2 games into the
season. So I'll take their word on what they think and what I see out on
the field. In 2 games, the starters have surrendered a total of 7 points.
Jordan almost lost to Fremont last week. They have a great QB and that is it.
A horrible defense as they did last year. Jordan will be 3rd in region 3 this
Yeah this isn't Bingham's best team by any stretch of the imagination.
I would say that Bingham is very beatable, maybe not by Herriman but maybe a
team like PG that has a proven championship coach in Hamilton. Or by an Jordan
team that has athletes and an explosive QB. Or perhaps Brighton who has Masina.
Bingham is the team to beat and they have great recent tradition and great
coaching. But I'm not sure this team is as athletic as past Miner teams
and I think the road might not be as easy this year.
Herriman surprised me with how well they played the Miners. Bingham was the best
all around team last night, but Herriman played a great game defensively.
Herriman's defense kept the Miners in check most of the night and Bingham
had to make great plays elsewhere, which is what a great team does.
Herriman's defense needs to feel proud of the way that they shut down the
Miners offensively. With that being said though I think this was the best
chance for Herriman to beat Bingham this season because the next time they face
Bingham the O-line is going to have almost a seasons worth of varsity experience
under their belt which means they are going to be clicking on all cylinders come
November. This year is a great year for Utah High School Football fans with
there being so much talent and competition in every region. This year though,
it is going to be the Bingham Miners to lose as they are good, and going to be
great by seasons end in every facet of the game.Good luck to the Miners as
they go to represent our entire state against the #1 team in the country!
Some of the statements obviously from the miners camp, are not as acurate as
they want people to believe. I WAS IN THE END ZONE for the first turn over in
the second half what happened the quarter back missed the hand off hit the full
bacm number 37 on the thigh causing the fumble . This was Herrimans mistake ,
not the football skills of the defense. The turn overs killed Herriman this does
not reflect by any means Bingham having some super human football skills. Dont
get me wrong BINGHAM IS GOOD.They are well coached abd talented team. However
the arrogant attitude of the miners some how takes away from any what they show
on the field.
I frankly think we are saying a lot of the same things. I agree with the
broadcasters to. I think you could say it came down to the quarterbacks.
Gearig was mentally tough, made very few mistakes (big sack after a timeout is
the only thing that comes to mind), especially 0 turnovers. Our QB was nervous,
playing Bingham, and turned it over 4 times, two of which led directly to 14
points when the game was tied. That's why Bingham was better than
Herriman. Ultimately all I am saying is that if Herriman does not turn the ball
over, they are good enough, this year, to beat Bingham. I'm not saying
they will, I am saying they are capable.side note, Herriman plays
almost nobody both ways. 7 got a couple carries on Offense, but I'm pretty
sure that was it.Also, I wouldn't read too much into the sophs
and JV, Herriman's sophs beat Bingham last year, what did that mean this
year?I only hate Bingham in that, "they are right next door and
are good at everything kind of way," which is how Bingham would want it. I
totally respect them, especially Peck and Sato.
The announcers on the broadcast said it perfectly. The Herriman coach said he
thought they could hang with Bingham physically. But wondered if they could
hang mentally and keep their composure. Obviously he knew something about his
team. Kids having to play both ways on other teams is a huge factor into why
Bingham pulls those plays off. The kids are fresh physically and mentally for 4
2020 - incredible! Bingham was only better last night? If played every day until
November it would be the same thing. A Bingham win and reasons why Herriman gave
the game away. Maybe....just spitballing here... Maybe Bingham puts so much
pressure on teams and players that they eventually make mistakes. Funny how
Jordan, Brighton, Herriman and every other team Bingham plays makes mistakes
they don't typically make. I know this is a stretch, what if it had to do
with Bingham. No worries I am sure coach Peck and his staff feel fortunate that
all these teams make mistakes against the Miners by sheer coincidence. Lol
I have first hand knowledge also. I was there. Bottom line is Herriman is not
as good as Bingham and it proved out last night. Good luck in region play.
Watch it again. You can see the ball hit the fullback come lose and he still
tries to give it to the tail back and it hits off his chest, instead of his gut.
Plus, i have first hand knowledge that's what happened. We'll have
to agree to disagree on the pick, because it looks as obvious to me it was due
to the bad throw as you say it was the corner reading his eyes. It was so far
behind him, he ended up facing the opposite sideline than the one he was running
the rout to. We're not going to change each others mind.I am
not saying woulda coulda shoulda, I am saying that what happened, is why Bingham
was better than Herriman last night. I hope Herriman gets another shot in
I was at the game, and I DVR'd the game and watched it again last night. I
just re watched the turnovers, and the nose guard is a yard in the back field
pushing the QB into the RB to cause the fumble. The Corner read the QB's
eyes the whole way. Heck, even the announcers said the QB stared down his
receiver the whole way! The corner saw that throw coming 2 seconds before it
was every thrown. Everybody in the crowd saw that throw coming! It was a
giveaway, it was a TAKEAWAY! Again, Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda! I could say if
Beingham didn't allow the long run before half, they would have shut them
out. But they didn't. But the regrouped at half and came out and put a
beat down on Herriman in the 2nd half. I think Herriman is a good team. They
have a great O Line. But they are not elite.
Good luck to Bingham next week playing at Las Vegas! I hope it's a good
game and Utah in general represent well nationally for themselves. Playing at
Bishop Gorman's home-field is NEVER easy..the top teams from Florida,
California, and Maryland always struggle to play here. The number 1 team in the
nation last year struggled with our home field immensely. Anyways, good luck
Like I said, turnovers are part of winning and losing, and that's why
Bingham was better than Herriman. But the turnovers happened the way I said.
It wasn't because of the D line penetration, or because the corner read his
eyes the whole way. They happened exactly the way I said they did. If you have
it on a DVR go watch it again. If Bingham continues to protect the football and
Herriman continues to turn it over, Bingham will beat them again. I'm not
even saying that Herriman would have won without the turnovers, but they
certainly could have.I will even give up the Bingham envy. Every
team in the state wants to have a program that wins as much as they do. That is
no stretch. They win all of the time, their home atmosphere is awesome. Am I
supposed to somehow feel bad for wanting Herriman to win state championships
like Bingham has in recent years? If you want to call it Bingham envy,
that's fine. It's just like when Bingham, and every other school in
the state, had Skyline envy in the 90s.See you in November
"If the QB didn't throw it behind him" "If the fumble
didn't happen" blah blah blah. If if's and buts were candy and
nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas!
I watched the game on TV. Herriman is legit and may actually end up in the
semis, but that is where the road ends. Bingham's offense will continue to
improve, just like last year. Herriman fans should be excited for this year, but
while they make excuses when they lose, just like they did last year 6 times,
Bingham will move on towards another State title. I also hear the JV and Soph
games were absolute blowouts, so it might be a few years before they have a shot
to beat Bingham.
@2020Every turnover in football is caused by the other team. If
Herriman was a good team, then those turnovers would not have happened.
HAHA really? How about the fumble was because the Bingham D line had
penetrated the backfield before he got the ball to the RB? How about the corner
read the QB's eyes the whole way and broke on the ball perfectly. It
wasn't thrown behind him! Another classic Herriman fan. "Oh we gave
the game away" No, it was taken away from you! In November the Bingham O
Line will be on the same page and it will be a bigger beat down than last night
was. Bingham was the better team all around. On offense, defense, and special
Bingham was better than Herriman because Herriman had three horrible turnovers,
not one of them "forced." Turnovers are part of winning and losing, and
that is why I say, that Bingham was better than Herriman.Bingham
went 11 yards after the Herrimans QB hit the fullback with the football, so they
never even got the handoff, a gift. The next TD was a pick six because the QB
threw it way behind the fullback. A good throw and it's only about a two
yard gain because the corner was there, but that corner didn't have to do
anything special but catch it and run, another gift. The field goal came after
the punt hit a Herriman player downfield blocking. Bingham went 7 yards and had
to kick a field goal. They went up 24-7 on three turnovers and 18
yards of offense. Not next year Gunner, November.
Loved the Herriman fans in the first half acting like they just won state when
they would stop a 3rd down conversion. haha Classic Herriman fan. That O Line
of Herriman is HUGE! Looked like a college O Line. Bingham makes big plays
when it needs to. That's what championship type teams do. Herriman will
be tough in that region. Great game Miners. I do believe they will have their
hands full next week in Vegas against a private school that has some of the best
players in the west on it. But really says something that Peck is willing to
give his kids that type of experience. Regardless of the outcome next week,
think it will benefit the Miners in the long run. Maybe next year Herriman fan.
But judging from the outcome of the JV and Sophomore games, probably not.
