    @ 2 for flinching,
I agree Fresno State and USU are near equals, although the emotional aspect of a USU vs U game is light years ahead of U against Fresno. But having said all of that, those who are counting Fresno as a definite win for the Utes may find themselves disappointed and perhaps embarrassed at end of game.

5 home games and 7 on the road as a P5 school? That's just bad business. USU is a quality team, and it would be a hard fought game in Logan, but the primary reason is to get to 6 home games. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure that Utah replaced the USU game with Fresno, which beat you last year. Obviously the quality of competition is not the motivation for Utah's actions.

Why on earth is Chris B in THIS neighborhood? If the MWC is so weak, why are you concerned with it? Good grief. Utah State has a legit program now, but you don't have to be jealous, for crying out loud. Chris B said he is embarrassed that he used to thing games with CSU and Wyoming were real games. They WERE real games. It's ridiculous to look back on what used to be and what is now in the MWC and say it's not all that exciting. It's not the SEC, but who cares? It's a good time. Utah fans who are more concerned about the conference they are in than they are winning need to get over themselves. People are more excited about an up and coming team in a so so conference than they are about a last place team in a good conference. Go Aggies!

Ignore this if you want but you seemed to be pretty happy playing NIU in a bowl game. Why shouldn't UofU be happy? My man tinplater never disappoints me. All his talk about belittling other programs was thrown out the window in another conversation.

I think it goes both ways for the Utes. They wanted another home game sure, but against who... Fresno State? I don't like it. USU isn't game for 2 for 1 deals anymore, so perhaps Utah got some team who is? I want to keep playing Utah on a home and home basis only.

But the fear of losing in Logan is certainly greater now than it was in the past for them. The timing sure seems to suggest it with the buyout, too. Knowing they'd be up against a senior Chuckie Keeton in 2014, having just one more game in 2015 when Chuckie is gone and then no more scheduled games going forward sure does come of as sketchy to me.

Besides, are Ute fans genuinely more excited to play NIU than an improved, rejuvenated Aggie squad? I think a meaningful in-state rivalry is way more fun than playing a MAC team.

    @ Two For Flinching,

Sure, I'd try and spin it that way too. Just admit it, you don't want to come to Logan this year because U know U have a much higher chance of losing than winning

"Enough so that the U bought out this years game in Logan to prevent an almost sure loss."

I'm pretty sure Utah bought out the game to get another home game on the schedule.

Ah Chris, you are so hard to even take serious enough to reply to...but what the heck.

All your bashing and talk would be validated and accepted if it were 5-6 years ago, but I would like to remind you that it is not 5 years ago, things have changed a bit in the last few years. Enough so that the U bought out this years game in Logan to prevent an almost sure loss. They then do not schedule a future series with USU past 2015 stating they need more games like Michigan. They then proceed to schedule home and home series with San Jose St and NIU????

I think the state of the two programs is pretty much clear to everyone but you, we are where the U was 6 years ago, in the MWC with an outside shot of making a big time bowl and the hopes and aspirations to do such. A recently successful program on the rise.
The Utes on the other hand are on a downward spiral, all that $ twisting down the toilet with you; sad to see really. But every time I read one of your ignorant comments it becomes less and less sad

Chris clearly gets pleasure from belittling other programs. USU is right where it belongs in a conference where it has an opportunity to compete for the championship. USU will never be at the level of a PAC 12 affiliation. So what? It is exciting to see USU excel at its level. Who would expect USU to be competitive with Utah when the population base, financial resources are so much greater in SLC and the U? I cheer for ASU and historically the Sun Devils have dominated Utah. Does that give me the right or the pleasure to belittle the Utes? Not for me.

Chris, if you disdain the Mountain West so much, does that mean you disdain Utah's whole history?

Utah played in exactly the kind of league the Mountain West is for practically their whole existence as a football program. What kind of fan disdains their very essence as a program? Utah wouldn't be where they are today without the Mountain West (or even the old WAC).

Keep holding onto that Sugar Bowl victory that happened nearly six years ago. I'm pretty sure it's all U have left.

The MWC is still a pretty good league, and I love watching our brothers to the North. I'll be cheering hard for U-State when they go into Neyland Stadium in a few weeks.

Good luck this year fellas; and ignore the haters.

I look forward to watching the Aggies play, especially against Tennessee. The opener against Auburn, a few years back, was awesome; USU had them dead to rights. Good Luck this year Aggie Nation: I will be pulling for you!

Remind us what league the Utes were in when they beat said Alabama etc.???

    You are completely contradicting yourself...

Stoked. Let the games begin!!! USU is exactly where they should be, playing in a stable conference where a greatly improved program can compete for the conference title. It is what college football was meant to be, ENTERTAINING. Let's go AGGIES!!!

You aggies who think Utah has nothing to look forward to are the same ones who said Utah couldn't go undefeated multipled times and beat Alabama in a big time bowl game, something you'll never be in.

So ya, your predictions don't mean much.

Enjoy being "competitive" in a horrible league. I could be "competitive" in a church ball league - I guess that means I'm in a better position than someone who plays for the Philadelpha 76'ers since they're not competitive in the NBA. Good "logic" there pal.

    @Chris B

U can have fun sitting home for the holidays (again). U can take the money and run. U can paste another PAC-12 logo on your car. That all doesn't sound like such a great deal to me.

I'll have fun watching competitive games against regional rivals in a league we're the perfect fit for with occasional big opportunities. I'll have bowl games and conference championship berths to look forward to as an Aggie fan.

Can Ute fans legitimately claim to look forward to the same things in the PAC if things don't get better and fast?

How high can those expectations be in the WAC 2.0? I disagree Chris. Utah, BYU and TCU made the conference and you had a right to brag. Now though you are right it's a bad conference to call yourself champion in. Hate to break it to you but Utah will never sniff a playoff either. It's the truth lately.

    @Chris B,
We know that the MWC is weak. It's not as weak as a lot of people say it is, with Colorado State, Nevada, SDSU, and potentially UNLV and Wyoming on the rise, but it's still weak and those teams have a long way to go. But I think it's more fun to beat up on other mid-majors, compete for conference championships (even if it's G5), and travel to bowl games than to sit at home during the holidays having to brag about the high level of competition that we always lose to. USU is just fine where it is, and while we may never make a playoff, we have a very good shot at beating two P5 teams this year and competing for the conference championship, which is going to be a lot of fun to watch. If you think it's more fun to watch your team lose to the likes of Stanford, Oregon, UCLA, and ASU week in and week out with the sole consolation of a PAC-12 sticker and more money, more power to you. I'll be over here cheering for my Aggies.

The MWC(WAC 2.0) is just not a very good league - it was nothing to brag about when BYU, TCU, and Utah were in the league and its much less so now.

I am embarrassed I used to pretend that games with Wyoming or new mexico or UNLV were a big deal. They weren't.

Aggies, its now your turn to pretend that playing a mwc schedule is big time - its not. But keep pretending.

No MWC team will ever sniff the playoffs - and that's how it should be.

You guys should get together with the other mid majors and set up your own playoffs or something.

Things are looking very good for another great year for the Aggies, but... they have to realize other teams are going to be shooting for them this year to get recognition. The Utah State Aggies will be getting national media attention, far beyond the Salt Lake press & TV if they start the year off with a win. It could be one of the most ferocious years they've ever had.

Dang it, I have to wait more than three weeks for the season to start. So excited to see what this team will do this year. And I'm glad we'll have Jojo and Butler for the opener, that's been a concern the last few weeks. Must be tough making those kinds of discipline decisions as a coach. I trust Wells has done the right thing, though.

    Go Ags! Win the Mountain!
