They loaded the brackets so their home team doesn't play anyone hard. What a shame that the real national championship will be played Thursday night at 5 pm MST! What follows after that will be minor league in character as a MPSF team will win it all!! Go Cougs! You have to be up for this one game on your own.......not much crowd support in the stands this time.

Wish I was there......just like ten thousand other fans wish!!

Didn't even know there was a Loyola in Chicago. Interesting the random sports some schools specialize in, like the Loyola from Maryland and Johns Hopkins are very good at lacrosse.

    Anywho, good luck to BYU.

It's too bad the Utes don't field a Men's Volleyball team. It would be fun crushing the Utes every year.

Unfortunately for U, even your "conference" smack failed miserably - BYU and Stanford both share the same conference affiliation in Men's Volleyball.

    Actually, a stuff-kill, point-set-match for BYU.

And a huge miscalculation on CB's part.

BYU is already a member of the most prestigious conference in the country in Men's Volleyball and BYU has been one of the best programs in that conference since becoming an NCAA-sanctioned program and joining the MPSF in Men's Volleyball.

    The PAC 12 doesn't sponsor Men's volleyball.
BYU and Stanford belong to the "prestigious" MPSF conference. I have MPSF bumper stickers all over my car.
And BYU is the champion of that prestigious conference for the 2nd year in a row."

Spot on, idablu! Hey where can I get one of those MPSF stickers? I have several acquaintances who would also like to obtain some. However, one will be enough for my car.

Why would U even care about a sport that the Utes are too wimpy to even compete in?

btw, BYU and Stanford are in the same conference in Men's Volleyball, the MPSF. In reality, Utah is the team on the outside looking in when it comes to Men's Volleyball - U don't even have a team.

"On a neutral court Stanford destroyed Pepperdine."

Stanford also lost to BYU on their home court.

I think it'll be a very tough, hard fought match for both teams, and I wouldn't be surprised if it once again goes to five sets.

BYU surged ahead in the 5th set at Stanford to win the match; hopefully, they'll be able to do it again.

    "Go PAC 12 Stanford!"

Oh, now we get it. Winning on the court/field no longer is the key for Ute fans; I suppose that should be OK since you surely are rooting for the PAthetiC-12.

Or did you not know that that BYU has won three matches and lost zero (on the court this year) vs. Stanford?

We'll watch to see that "key" switched back.

On a neutral court Stanford destroyed Pepperdine. I would think Stanford is capable of doing that to BYU also on a neutral court. I see BYU as the slight underdog here. I hope the Cougs approach this game with a chip on their shoulders.

It's quite obvious that the NCAA chose and seeded the teams to give the host team the best possible chance of playing in the championship game.

There's no other logical reason why #10 Lewis would be picked over Pepperdine and 5 other available MPSF teams that were ranked higher.

Placing both MPSF teams on the other side of the bracket ensured that the host team wouldn't have to play a team from the best volleyball conference until the championship match.

    Agree with wendell.
Stanford certainly has the horses to win it all. They hit better and pass better than any other team. On the other hand,
BYU is the best blocking team and they have Taylor Sander (who isn't utilized enough, in my opinion). I think this game will come down to psychology. BYU has shown they have their number this year and that may weigh in Stanford's heads. On the other hand, Stanford will be super motivated to beat BYU away from BYU's home court. There is no question BYU feeds off the energy of the home crowd. They are a different team on the road.

Beating Stanford at Stanford gives me hope that BYU can do it in Chicago, but it was a very close, see-saw, five set victory - 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-7).

Stanford has the edge in hitting and digging. BYU has the edge in blocking and serving.

BYU will have to be playing at the top of their game to beat the Cardinal a 4th time.

BYU has been playing exceptionally well as of late, but they did have an ugly 4 match losing streak just prior to the start of the conference tournament. It's very apparent that the Cougars play much better in Provo than they do elsewhere and that concerns me against Stanford. After watching a lot of volleyball this year, I think BYU will likely beat Loyola for the title, if the Cougars can get there. However, after losing 3 times to the Cougars already, I have to give the Cardinal the edge against BYU in their semifinal matchup. I think Stanford is the most-complete team in the country and the Cougars will have to play their very best in order to come out victorious. Hopefully they can do it, but I certainly have my doubts. GO COUGARS!!!

The official end of season rankings have BYU #1, Loyola #2, Stanford #3, and Pepperdine #4, and Lewis #10. This is the Coach's Poll and is supposed to be used is as a tool in determining seeding. However, the knuckleheads at the NCAA played favorites and seeded Loyola #1 (which is partly understandable since they beat BYU head to head early in the season when BYU was still trying to figure out a starting lineup) and snubbed Pepperdine so Loyola would have an easy pathway to the championship game. It is no secret that the MPSF is miles ahead of any other conference in the nation in competitiveness. So it is likely that the winner of the Stanford-BYU game will win the national championship.

I'm still wondering how Lewis got the nod over Pepperdine as an at-large team in the tournament, especially after they lost last night to Penn State. If Loyola is as good as their hype, they should walk all over Penn State, so that match will provide a good barometer. The BYU-Stanford match will be epic, but the fact that there's a rest day on Friday should allow the winner to recover enough (barring injuries) to take on Loyola at full strength.

Two matches away from a National Championship, but it won't be easy having to go through the #3 and #2 ranked teams on the road.
