"Instead of fighting fire with fire, we need to be genuine Christians who have the courage to be Christlike and fight with our own devotion. If we want admiration and respect, we must counter by living so sincerely and consistently every day of the week."

There are some great ideas and good examples of admirable behavior mentioned in the article and I'm sure the book it talks about. But I think it's important to note that if it's really "admiration and respect" that we want, then Christianity is probably not a good choice of religions.

After all, Christ himself, despite living a completely **perfect** life, certainly didn't receive "admiration and respect". And, he never expected that. In fact, from what I've read of his words, He tried to warn everyone that being his disciple wasn't going to be easy and might very likely involve persecution.

I appreciate the spirit of this article and agree that we should do all we can to exemplify Christ's teachings in our lives. But, grateful as I would be to get it, I would only hope for "admiration and respect" from other people. I would never expect it.
