We beat the buffs last time we played them.

When was the last time you beat your rival in football?

pounding your chest about SOS in April??? really? Where's the Rose bowl and national championship predictions? How about you worry about beating your rivals the Buffs

Thanks! I found the SBNation article. I would however, be cautious enough to not read much into that report. That site grades beating FBS and FCS teams the same, because it only looks at the W/L record. If you want to see what one's "true SOS" is, wait until Phil Steele releases his preseason report. That should be sometime around the beginning of June.

I think the best way to handle offensive coordinators is to make them apply for the job they already have, let the QB coach take over, ultimately fail, then beg the first guy to come back.
That is the mark of incredible stability.

Tough schedule no doubt. We only have one for sure game this year. We need BYU back on the schedule for that second win each year.

What publications were you referring? The most reliable source -- Phil Steele -- doesn't publish his preseason projections until around June. And ditto for Athlon (2nd most reliable) and Lindy's (4th).

Looks like you need to read my comment again as clearly you didn't.

I made no big guarantees or predictions.

I simply said I think the bowl drought will be over

Looks as if you are the one making wild things up.

    Go utes!

After reading Joe's comment, I chuckled when I recalled what a Schmo/Schmoe is...

He certainly lives up to his title.

Cougfan, if you don't think recruiting shows promise for Utah you must have no hope for your team then since Utah beat byu in recruiting 4 of the last 5 years. This last year byu beat Utah by an average of .07 stars. In comparison, Utah beat byu by .7 stars a couple years ago, or ten times the difference by which Byu beat Utah.

So if you don't think recruiting gives hope for Utah, what does it say about the "talent" in your program?

    Joe Schmoe

You should be more concerned about your own retread OC than worrying about Utah's. Utah and DC are going to be just fine. However, your unimaginative OC and a QB that can't throw is a true reason for concern. Just because you run more plays doesn't necessarily make them better.

@Chris B - I love your enthusiasm for Utah but your style is that of a y fan. We all hope this is a great season. Making a bowl game should be the goal. Anything else is just idealistic speculation and hope.

@Joe Schmoe - do you know if Williams will be eligible after his arrest? I hope so. He seems like a good kid who just made a mistake. I wonder how the honor code will treat that.

Chris B has no sources and true Utes don't claim him as one of their own.

There are no Coug Fans in Texas. We know you are from Utah County.

Dres needs to toughen up this year. He doesn't like the big hit and doesn't like to go across the middle like his dad. Too many tipped balls that lead to interceptions. A pac 12 cellar dweller can easily beat your cougars.

I see that three publications show Utah with top 15 toughest schedules in the nation One as number 7, one at number 11 and one at number 15.

I see BYU is right there around number 100. Alabama is right next to BYU. One publication shows BYU at 143 toughest schedule. Sounds about right.

I wish all players, coaches, and even fans could be as positive and upbeat all the time the way Dres is. Not only is he an extremely talented player, but his positive attitude rubs off on everyone. We've been very fortunate to have him in our program these last four years.

    Go Dres, and Go Utes!!

Another 4 or 5 win season is in the works. The recruiting bump that was predicted just never materialized. The post season drought continues. We'll see if the bandwagon falls off the tracks this year. It is make it or break it for Whittingham. The biggest question is who will be the OC next year?

Wilson is not "working his way back from an intercraineal artery injury." The intercraineal artery condition will always be there, it's not going to go away. It's not like working your way back from a torn ACL.

Just curious cb, which OC would you prefer? Christensen, Ericksen, Johnson, or Chow? U had very high expectations with each of them.

I hope the Utes do well, but there's nothing from Spring or recruiting that leads me to believe the Utes record will be much different than the last two years.

The schedule is tough. I'm predicting a 4 or 5 win season, and a visit to the couch potato bowl in December.

Just for the record, the WAC and BCS are history. Can U bring your comments up to 2014.

    Good luck.

Coach Christensen put up some absolutely amazing offensive numbers in his time as Mizzou.

    Getting him will be HUGE.

Our defense is always solid, usually top 25 in the nation.

My sources in the program are telling me that there is more reason to be optimistic about the season than perhaps ever. I've been told by a coach in the program that the talent level is the highest its ever been in the history of the program.

We still have a brutal schedule, and not some of the gimme games we've had in the past.

Even the WAC program we're playing this year is a good Fresno team.

But I think the bowl drought will be over, and Dres Anderson will have a big time year if we can keep Wilson healthy.

    Excited for the future.

    Onward and upward Utes
