Nine players on the first team?

For all of those who think that Wright is the better player you have to consider that Haws does it with usually two guys guarding him, and no he does not just shoot three pointers. A lot of his points come in the paint. I guess when you are the 6th best scorer in the country this will happen ans all of this while playing the 4th toughest OCC schedule in the country. Wright has the luxury of only have one player defending him while playing the 350th worst occ schecule in the country.

Great players lead their team to tourneys. Can anyone on the hill say that? Crickets.......

Haws is ot only the best player in the state but BYU has two other players that have stats real close to Wright's and better in some categorie for example; KC has one .04 assists less than Wright but has 1.6 more rebounds per game and 1.7 blocks and scores 3 points less per game. Carlino is real close to Wright's stats as well. Mika ia not far behind either.
To all the uts trolls, these are real numbers that cannot be disputed when you take the crimson glasses off.

Congrat's to Tyler who's a terrific player on the court and a terrific person off the court. Looking forward to the remainder of this season and seeing him back playing for BYU next season. He'll continue to have a great college career and move on to the NBA no doubt. BTW-- no one should be fooled into thinking all those claiming to be BYU fans making ridiculous comments are actually BYU fans. Some are clearly just trying to make the rest of us look silly.

    Congrats Tyler!!!
Chris B, Tyler could have chosen any school he wanted and he did, you are just mad it was BYU and he has done so well!!! Tell us how many awards the mighty Utes received from that high and mighty prestigious PAC12? Both BYU players earned their awards with hard work in games and in practice!!! I am sure both players would say it was a whole team effort that allowed them to win these awards because they are both team first type players!!!

Our awsome rode record proves we have the best player in the state because we are in a power conference.

    Go Utes!

Ummm Chris, maybe you should look it up before you post. The Utes offered Tyler, and he turned them down flat because he wanted to play for a real college basketball team. Ty would have gotten more offers; but most teams, unlike the Utes knew where he would sign.

Tyler deserves credit for fighting through all the defenses designed to stop him, which also freed up his team mates; Chris C. is the BYU glue, yet has much room for improvement; Mika played tough, but too many fouls; Matt Carlino is a wizard with the ball and is awesome when intensely focused; Nate Austin is an unsung hero, only wish he'd take more shots 'cause he'd make at least half of them; the rest of the team is much appreciated for their fighting, competitive spirit and for playing together; Winder is much better than his playing time shows, maybe saved the day with his defense and scoring of late.
Cougars need a plan like maybe a zone press or half court press to push the tempo, they get really hurt when other team slows down the game, controls the tempo, my opinion.

Oh please, Ute trolls give it a rest... other than Johnson for Arizona name me a better player than Haws in the West, do not tell me Loveridge, Wright, or Gordon , Loveridge and Wright disappear in big games and cannot win on the road while struggling to be .500 in the PAC 12 and Gordon, while athletic cannot shoot outside of ten feet. From the moment Haws has stepped on the court at BYU he has performed. He has a target on his back while gettin mugged every game. He is a pure shooter, smart and very athletic. He is a winner period. And yes, if he was in your beloved PAC 12 he would be on the first team there also.

I think it's debatable whether Haws is the best player at BYU. And I could see him being 2nd best player in the state but not third. Who do you have above him? Collingsworth and Mika? Come on, Mika isn't that good... yet.

Haws is without a doubt the best player at byu.

Lets not get carried away about best in the state though. Haws is at best 3rd best player in the state of Utah.

In a conference that had exactly zero ranked teams it's not saying much to be player of the year.

The wcc is a bad conference and the great majority of the players didnt receive any offers from any power conference programs.

Tyler will be in the first 10, not 5. That being said, I think he'll wait one more year so he'll be number one overall. Cause that's how it works.

Tyler should be in the final 2 or 3 for national player of the year. Hopefully he won't go to the NBA after this season.

If he leaves for the NBA, he should be a top 5 pick.

Congratulations Tyler! Well-deserved. The best thing about him also is that he's a team guy and not some "look at me" premodonna.

Way to go Tyler. We can all see why you are the best player in the state and well deserving of this acknowledgement. Kudos to Kyle as well as the 2nd best player in the state. You make the Cougar Nation and the state of Utah proud.
NCAA tourney is looking like a reality with the solid finish to the season.
It looks like the other team from down south will also make the tourney.

Without question best player in the state, by miles, and best player in the conference. Way to go Tyler. He will lead the Cougars, best team in the state, into the NCAA tourney and BYU will be the representative from Utah, along with the other school from Utah valley.
