Its a stupid law! This was a 17 yr old boy who knows exactly what he wants. They are equally to blame. She should not have to spend one single night in jail. Its a stupid law. Think about it..if this boys birthday were March 30 and he turned 18 on March 30th but they had sex at 11:55 pm on March 29th he is a minor? Cmom, what a joke, did he really all of sudden turn into an adult man in 5 minutes?

I don't understand why people believe the teacher is the victim here. It doesn't matter if it's a female or male teacher having sex with a female or male student. If the student is under the age 18 he/she is considered a minor. In this case the teacher is 34 and female and she had sex with a 17 year old male student. That alone is illegal here in Utah because the age of consent is 18. The teacher should be charged with statutory rape. This teacher is a mature adult who was perfectly capable of stopping this situation from beginning but she didn't. This teacher needs to be held accountable for her choice she made in engaging in a sexual relationship with a minor. You may not agree with me, but it's the law and she broke it!

He is 17 years old, he came on to her, yet he is considered the victim.

    What a turned around world.

....and yet in another article this morning a 17 year old girl is being tried as an adult for murder, because she knew what she was doing? Talk about hypocrisy in the legal system.

Golly gee I hope this won't affect 2 years of his life.

What ever happens to the kids? Nothing! The kids know exactly what they are doing! Everyone wants to blame the teacher. WAKE UP! Kids these days know nothing about their actions or how to take responsibility. This kid wasn't harmed, he knew exactly what he was doing, yet somehow he was the victim. The schools are run by spoiled bratty kids who run to their parents to cover something up. When will we wake up?!

She is not the first pretty teacher to be pursued by a student. It was her responsibility to put an end to the flirtation at the beginning. It's too bad it went as far as it did. Yes, her life is ruined. She is most likely going to jail and will be dubbed a sexual predator for the rest of her life. Her children will be raised by her ex-husband and (probably) his new wife, and they will always know why mom and dad divorced. You can choose your behavior. You are not free from the consequences of those choices.

Lets see, A guy has sex with his baby sitter, shoots her full of meth and heroine, lies to police and mom for months, cut up a body and put in garbage bags with the help of his wife they dispose of the body in the woods. They are charged with first degree felonies. A young school teacher has consentual sex with a 17 year old male. She is charged with the same felony charge. Really? what is wrong with our legal system. Yet in Logan a 17 year old is caught having sex with his college professor up the canyon. He gets a class B misdemeanor and the teen who instigated it all gets nothing. Its time to change our laws or our prisons are going to be full.

This is an interesting commentary in modern relationships.

On the one hand we live in a male dominated society where men are to pursue and be in charge of relationships. This is the one relationship where a male can pursue and be in charge of the relationship yet the female is in a position of authority over said male.

The female teacher should have reported the boy for sexual harassment on day one. Sexually pursuing a teacher should have some ramifications but not as much as a teacher sexually engaging a student.

Her attorney has one thing right "Her Life 's ruined".......She has to own it, no one else to blame.
