@RB ScottBoston, MA"This story is horribly incomplete. Why
didn't the editor insist on identifying the victims?"Probably because the police were still notifying relatives, and the paper
shouldn't be where they learn about a family member's death or injury.
In any case, why do the names matter to someone on the other side of the
country? If you're not related or a close friend, it shouldn't be a
concern, and if you are, is this where you want to learn about it?
It doesn't matter what church group these people are from, I want to let
the families and the victims know you will be in my prayers.
Buckle Up people
@ Interested Observer "My question is why a US Government vehicle was
transporting a church group?"Because the group was from a
non-denominational christian church at Dugway Proving Ground.
seat belts have saved my life on at least 3 occasions. that's why the law
requires you to wear them. maybe someone will learn from this tragedy.
For the most part, safety standards in vehicles in the past have been focused on
safety in event of an accident. Now the focus is shifting on preventing
accidents all together. Some of these features include:* Forward
Collision Warning - Vehicle applies breaks in event of potential collision. * Lane Keeping System (name varies by maker) - When drifting into another
lane, moves vehicle back into your lane (Not to be confused with Lane Departure
Warning System).* Autonomous Cruise Control - cruise control that reduces
its' speed when approaching another vehicle.* Blind spot alert -
found as an option to many SUV's, Minivans, and larger vehicles, alerts
driver if a vehicle is in their blind spot. The US Department of
Transportation want's to require all new vehicle have vehicle to vehicle
communication by 2017 to prevent the accident in the first place.Of
course all of these features still requires the driver to drive safe. These
features are not a substitute reckless or distracted driving.
This story is horribly incomplete. Why didn't the editor insist on
identifying the victims? If there was a reason the names were withheld the
reason should have been published. Ditto the name of the church group. To omit
such information is unprofessional and raises concerns that accurate reporting
has been compromised for one reason or another.
I am saddened by the loss of life and tragedy of the accident. Hope God our
Heavenly Father will comfort and aid all.My question is why a US
Government vehicle was transporting a church group?Looks like the
driver of the Grand Caravan or The US Government is going to be on the hook for
a lawsuit by someone. My bet, the US Government.
No excuse for not wearing seat belts. Ever. A tragic reminder of how dangerous
driving a motor vehicle can be.
Sear belts prevent ejections.Thoughts to the families and victims.
Very sad! I hope all recover and feel comfort. This should remind all
of us to buckle-up. Hopefully the more technology improves, the more we can
avoid tragedies like this.
It is a tragedy to see those so young precious ripped from the ones who love
them. May they find comfort and hope from the God that sent them
here to earth.
