Utah fans belittling BYU for losing to Portland is really funny.
Portland's RPI is currently 135 and Utah's 129 - pretty much
identical. By the way, BYU's RPI is 45 so don't get too excited about
BYU losing to Portland who also beat Gonzaga last week.
Got to give Portland some credit. They played a great game.Neither
team deserved to lose.
The end result too often comes down to free throws with this team. It's the
most immediately fixable problem they've got, but no-one seems to be
addressing it seriously.80% from the stripe and most of this
season's losses are wins.Every player, every day...200 free
throws on your own time. After 200,can't stop until you hit 12 in a row.Do it.
@Big 12 Call Yet?Wasn't it your utes who played the sisters of
St. Katherine this year? You have no leg to stand on.
I find it funny that Utah fans are commenting about BYU losing when they lost
once again on the road.
How soon we forget. BYU, pretty much by itself, pulled the WAC and then the MWC
into the national limelight. Schools that seldom accomplished anything in FB or
BB had a target, someone to emulate. BB in the WCC is simply catching on more
quickly than CSU, the AFA, UNM, SDSU, or UU did. You have to give credit to
USD, SMC, LMU the two PUs for realizing that BYU represents excellence and the
level they must aspire to in order to get national recognition, not to diminish
anything Gonzaga is doing. One thing is obvious this year. College
BB is about as balanced across the nation as it has been in a long time. BYU
beats Stanford, Texas, plays national powers tough, SDSU beats KU, ends up
ranked 7th in the nation, Wichita State is ranked in the top ten. Texas beats
ranked teams. I think experience is playing as big a part as talent this year.
Maybe the day of the one-and-done teams is over. And to think this
had in part its beginning in little old Provo, Utah.
@There You Go AgainYep, 0 assists. Great team play.
I've said it before...and I'll say it again...I love to
watch Tyler Haws on the offensive end of the court.
Sweater,There is an article about the game. But Haws played great
despite the rest of the team and deserves recognition.2013 Ute,No, no excusses. Bad foul shooting and severe under performing were the
reasons, but no excuses from this BYU fan.Big 12,No team from
the state of Utah is going dancing this year unless they win their conference
tournament. So, in order of likelihood of that happening: UVU, WSU, BYU, USU,
Utah, SUU. I do, however, think BYU could have a good run in the NIT. Not what I
was hoping for at the beginning of the year for sure but not completely
horrible.Lady Moon,I agree they are confusing, but how can
someone be "more average"? That is kind of like saying your shirt size
is "extra medium", but whatever.
Big 10.2 Call Yet???Interesting comment from a so far non-factor in
the conference of champions. But I digress.Too bad Mika and
Collinsworth can't shoot over 50% from the line. Game over if they only
You guys crack me up.
There's no understanding this squad. They lost to an even more average
team than themselves. They can not win the big ones as will be proven this
Saturday against the Zags!
BYU loses to the Portland Pilots (who have lost to north texas, montana st, sf
and pepperdine) and are 12-8 for the season. Yet the headline is how great a
player plays!!!Can you see the headline in the DN on 16 April
1912..."Titanic sinks....But deck chairs held up just fine"
If byu fans haven't made the excuse already, let me beat them to it: It
was NOT the refs fault. Portland community played better than byu. And
that's why they won.
but mighty Portland was just too much. Up by 8 points in double overtime with 3
minutes left and byu ended up losing? Must be one of the biggest chokes(to a
terrible team at that) this whole basketball seasonAny byu fans
think they're a potential dance team with with losses to Lola Mary
community, Portland Nursing, and Pepperdine?
