the thing is...there are better coaches...than Ty...if you want me to name names....let me start with Lionel Hollins and Nate Mcmillan...although Nate's offense is one of the slowest...he did take a broken down blazers into the playoffs several times...and almost upsetting top seeded teams..im just saying

Regarding my comment "Ty is doing some of the best" I didn't say all of the best. In all of the years I have been at court side watching the Jazz, I've never seen Jerry give many minutes to rookies. Even Stocky rode the pine that first year until Ricky got hurt. D-Will rode the pine until Larry's famous closed door meeting. Jerry never called a timeout during big runs by other teams, Ty calls them immediately. So some of his coaching styles I prefer. Jerry did a fantastic job with the best point guard in History helping him. Ty now has Burkes blossoming into a real NBA star, and the Jazz are competing. I think Ty is doing the best he can with what he has. I could be critical and say that Kantor could be used more, Clark is a talent wasting away, but these aren't all Ty Corbins calls to make, team development is a management, including Jerry, job. Do I think there are better coaches, yes, worse ones too. I still think the Corbin haters have other issues. Tanking is not going to happen now. This team is getting better.

You Ty Corbin haters sound, and some of you are probably the same ones, that wanted Jerry Sloan fired 20 years ago! For the first 5 to 10 years you guys made the same argument about Jerry. I hope there is any crows left among you after Jerry was elected to the Hall of Fame to share with the Ty haters!

I really don't understand the tanking mentality. If you have confidence in your players and the way you develop them, it shouldn't matter where a team lands in the draft. Look at how well the Jazz have done in drafts over the years. They got Bryon Russel at 45, Millsap at 47, Stockton at 16, Malone at 13, and Jeremy Evans at 55. People misjudge players all the time.

I wish the Jazz would just tank, Than at least they would get a consolation prize for not making the playoffs this year.

    @ VeraLouise:

It's not that people who don't believe Corbin is a great coach don't like him. He's a nice person and very likable.

But when people like fortydam says that Corbin has been doing the best coaching since the Jazz have been in Utah, one has to wonder what side of the bed he got up from this morning. Wow!

The team's numbers have consistently gotten worse almost every year since Corbin has been the Jazz head coach.

Even with 2 higher profile, higher performance players like Jefferson and Millsap, combined with other proven veterans to go along with our multiple young first round lottery pick players, Corbin still couldn't get the team to make even the lowest playoff spot last year. That team was terribly inconsistent, usually attributed to coaching.

Corbin had never had any head coaching experience at any level before his current job and it has often been evident in multiple ways. The Millers have been financing his OJT.

And after starting 1-14, there was only one direction to go. I seriously doubt any other NBA team would hire Corbin as their head coach if he was available. No credentials.

Apparently tanking isn't part of the plan anymore. Little Andy is correct by the way.

I agree with Abeliever. I don't understand those of you who don't like Ty Corbin. If he is so bad, then how come the players are getting so much better for the most part and learning from their mistakes? Who gets credit for their progress? JazzBear?

Go Jazzboys tonight! I hope Trey dazzles his Michigan fans and doesn't get the jitters.

I'm with you (abeliever). Dear little Andy, I hope you like crow feathers. I've had season tickets since the Jazz moved to Utah, and I think Ty could be doing some of the best coaching I've seen here.

    Dear Little Andy,

Ty Corbin is doing exactly what management wants out of him,to win games and develop the core five. The core five is averaging from 25 to 36 minutes a game each and now with all of the team mostly healthy they are winning games. Corbin has done a great job of getting Jefferson and Marvin minutes to help stable the team and also develop the core five. I believe Corbin has done a great job of coaching under the circumstances and should get a three to four year contract extension. Great job management and coaching.

My dream is to have the last year on Ty's contract be set in stone. If by playing RJ so many minutes will bring on a good trade for pieces I will gladly eat my crow. But to help RJ get a new contract should not be the plan..
