Cant find the game on cable here. Lets stop playing Utah until they get on a better tv plan than the PAC 12. It was worth leaving the MWC its worth skipping playing Utah. Maybe it we move all the bball games to Energy Solutions we could get better TV coverage.

    To all BYU fans.

The Utes played USU in Logan in 2010 so we haven't been afraid of playing them there. Do you really expect us to believe 1 out of every 3 in Logan is a balanced schedule? Anyone who believes ESA is truly a neutral court for BYU is kidding themselves. Go ahead and dis our preseason schedule. We'll make up for it in the regular season when we play 5 games against ranked opponents (one of those happens to be the current #1) while BYU will only be playing 2. That's assuming Gonzaga hangs on to its ranking. One loss to any team in the WCC and that ranking goes bye bye.

It has become so boring that fans and the muss rushed the field not once or twice but three times after the last game at RES!!! And how will you and the other Utah fans/ BYU haters react if Utah is able to upset the Cougs on Sat. That is why we go on each others articles and bait each other because this RIVALRY is anything but boring!!!

    Chris B,
Basketball is so different then football! More games, more chances for upsets!!! Kind of like SW Baptist over the Utes in the Huntsman Center a few seasons ago!!! I bet you did not think BYU would beat mighty Stanford on the road this season, did you? How do you think a team that scored 95 points against UMASS will only score 69 against the Utes?

Chris, You gave examples of why you feel the pac 10 is better than the WCC, and yet there was no mention of your utes. Why would that be? According to you, just being in the pac 10 makes the utes the best team in the State of Utah....in every sport. Thanks for finally seeing it the way it is.

Why worry about it? If there is a problem scheduling Utah or Utah State, I'm sure BYU fans would be willing to pay a bit more to have Baylor or Wake Forest visit again. In state games certainly don't create the interest as they did at one time when there were conference connections. If Dave Rose can schedule home and home with a team normally found in the top 25 or hanging close, that has to be a more exciting prospect win or lose. It sure helps RPI and rankings if you do get the win. Beating Utah doesn't buy the Cougars any respect

    Thanks for the holiday wishes.

I love the idea of having a Deseret Tournament at ESA. That would be a blast and would make for a post season type atmosphere early in the year. I don't think it would be difficult to sell enough tickets and market this enough to bring some decent financial returns. Maybe even have it around the Holiday season...would be epic. I say we start petitioning. I'll even take you both to dinner before the games to show how well Ute, Aggie and Cougar fans can get along, despite wearing different colors...well almost different between Cougs and Aggies anyway :)

    Easy answer.

U put them all over everything because you have no accomplishments of your own to brag about:

    - 9-18 in football
    - 8-28 in basketball
    - 17-46 overall since joining the conference

    LOL. No.

Arizona #1 in the country is better than #1 Gonzaga

Top #15 Oregon is much better than unranked byu(if byu is second)

Top 25 Colorado is better than unraked St. Mary's.

  • NevadaCoug Overton, NV
    Dec. 12, 2013 11:10 a.m.

BYU and USU both tend to fill seats in their respective stadiums. A 1-1-1 deal works well with them because we know their fans will travel to that neutral site game at Energy Solutions every third year.

How is attendance at the Huntsman right now? If they can't fill their own building, can you really trust that fans are going to show up at Energy Solutions or any other neutral court? It's not worth it for either USU or Utah to agree to a neutral site game. And USU would be foolish to do anything less than a 1-1 agreement when they can pack their house and Utah can't.

As for the game on Saturday, some things we can predict:
    1) BYU should win this game. If they don't, it's because they play poorly. Sorry, but BYU is the better team.
    2) Regardless of who wins, BYU will compete for the championship of the WCC and (barring total disaster) get a bid to the NCAA tournament.
    3) Regardless of who wins, Utah will finish no better than mid-conference and miss the NCAA tournament.

So tired of hearing about how tough the big bad pac12 is and how weak the WCC is... Truth is that the top 5 teams of the WCC would do very well against the top 5 pac12 teams on neutral sites...

In addition... Even if the big bad pac 12 was all that, the truth is that the Conference would be rated higher and tougher if the utes weren't in it... They continue to be the doormat of the conference half way through their third year... They are in the bottom three in all the major sports Football, Basketball, and Baseball... The only thing that they have going for themselves is Women's Gymnastics... No other pac12 team are as horrible as the utes... That is why the ute fans talk up the conference instead of their teams... Their teams just aren't competitive... Granted they rise up to beat the Cougs 4 years in a row but I expect that will come to a grinding halt next year... Then what???

Unfortunately for U, Utah's loss total will also increase, dramatically, because Utah's cream puff pre-season schedule has left the Utes completely unprepared to face the rigors of conference play.

Tell me sir how will the loss total increase dramatically once Utah starts conference play. Utah has the depth, size, versitility, and skills to compete in the Pac-12. Last year with out the depth, size, versitility, and skills Utah started to gel winning their last two against Oregon, Oregon St. and winning two to make it to the semifinal in the Pac-12 tourney.
Even your Greg Wrubel said on the raido last night that Wright posses a problem for byu and likened him to the G out of UMass. Quick and athletic. Utah can throw several players at Mika and get him in foul trouble and who is byu going to use at that point Austin to help defend? Wruble said that they are desprate when it comes to their bigs and need Kaufusi to help out the basketball team.
Utah will be just fine in Pac-12 play and will win Saturday but thanks for your concern.

What Utah State fans fail to realize is both Utah's and BYU's athletic programs are 2-3x more valuable brands, yet they act like Chris Hill and Tom Holmoe should treat them as equals? BYU only goes out of theri way so far for Utah State since they without question get a lot of political preasure to do so from their governance board with Utah State people with power near the top. The state of Utah Board of Regents however is overwhelmingly now stacked in the University of Utah's favor whch is why Utah will go out of its way to treat the Aggies as the kid-brother cow college they are.

As a Cougar Fan I hope the series continues. I do think Dave Rose put pressure on Dr. Hill by making public what was being spoken about in private. I think that was smart as many in this state see the U of U being the one responsible for ending the yearly football rivalry with the Y. I don't think they want another black eye ending this one as well when everyone knows that it is easy to schedule a yearly basketball game. There are at least a dozen non-conference games for heavens sake; anyone could figure this one out.

Also, I agree with Aggie fans this game between the U of U and Utah State should remain and should stay home and away. The U coach needs to know that your team gets better for conference play when they go into hostile arenas and play good programs. The patsy's they are playing this year is an embarrassment and won't help you prepare for the Pac 12 talent you are going to face.

Finally, I am all for a State tournament, but you need another team for an even number; how about Lone Peak!

When Chris Hill says the discussion with Utah State have become difficult and uncomfortable, is that because Hill calls the Aggies up and says "Look, we're in the Pac 10 and have tons of Pac 10 stickers, therefore, we get to tell you how things will be. How hard can it be to schedule BYU, especially if they're moving games for you? And the arrogance to not play Utah State? Come on. He's managed to unite BYU and USU fans. Pretty impressive work Dr. Hill. Until he sees the results Saturday. Look for Fresno to suddenly appear on that schedule. Oh wait, it's already there. Can't play that card this time boys.

Pretty clear who will be more prepared for this game. BYU just beat a 2-win team by 48. Utah won by what, 7, to a 3-win team, having to come from behind to grind out a win. BYU already played a rivalry game and wore them out at the end. Oh, and they played Weber, so that's two rivalry games already with 2 green W's. Already beat a PAC team on the road. Utah beat....uh...Nationally ranked by the Department of Agriculture - Grand Canyon.
