    DresdenBalla and Overseer:

You guys need to stick to the level of your competence - Mo Ball - and leave coaching to the professionals. UMass is just better.

I agree with "Dresdenballa" dont give up as many points against so many teams, and expect to win against good teams. It seems the mentality is to "out score other teams, and thats not going to win against good teams that DO play defense. A good defensive team can stop a good offensive team anyday. Any team that HAS to play zone is going to have a hard time winning against top tier teams, unless you are Syracuse, and can recruit top level kids to your program. Spend more time on "D" coach, like half your practice or more.....

It seems like maybe you did not watch the game. This was not one of those close games that ends up being a 9 point game at the end because of some free throws or something. It was the opposite. This was more like a 15 point game by the feel of it. Nothing for BYU to hang its hats on or find a moral victory from.

Also, coaches are not sacred or perfect. A lot of people play and understand basketball. It is not like rocket science to understand. When you give up 105 points in a 40 minute game there is something wrong there, either with the players or the strategy or both.

UMASS is a better team. Byu is now 0-3 against ranked teams, and as my byu friends remind me, playing ranked teams doesn't count for ANYTHING if all you do is lose.

I highly doubt the ncaa selection committee is impressed with byu's .000 winning percentage against ranked teams considering 3 games have been played.

Losing by nine against an undefeated,- and number one RPI team, on their home court?

And some are criticizing, and telling Dave Rose how to coach?

    Go figure.

I agree the Coug defense is bad, but the constant driving to the basket with your head down, looking for no other potentially open teammate creates a lot of turnovers and missed shots. Rose needs to correct that, it can and should be corrected. Improving on defense will be tougher. Oh, and a few more made free throws would help too.

Really no surprise here. The Cougars just can't play man to man, and they basically play defense with their hands and not their feet.
