I have never heard Bishop talk or complain about the "fat of federal workers." The man would be a fool to do that with so many tens of thousands of them living and working in his district. So I wish Phranc (cleaver spelling of Frank perhaps?) would base his ad hominem attacks on facts rather than just pulling stuff out of the air. That's only fair. I don't know if Lee has said anything about federal employees. But he too should be judged on his record and facts and just not smears that somebody pulls out of the air.

I am happy to hear that Hill is getting this new infusion of work it is good for the local economy. It does however seem rather hypocritical that Bishop and Lee are praising this decision seeing as they are always complaining about federal workers and other living fat of tax dollars.

    Sir- get your facts straight.
Do you expect Mike Lee to keep his promise of reducing Government?

This is expanding and prolonging that spending.

    Like I said,
    I'm good with it.

    I'm a USAF veteran,
I work at Hill AFB now as an Engineer,
    I'm OK with Government spending.

Mike Lee and the rest of you aren't,
    therefore -- hypocrites.

You work at Hill and are a liberal. That's kind of like being pro life and working at an abortion clinic. Don't you realize that if your side (liberalism) ever had its way, the military would have a budget of about 50 billion dollars? And as DN Subscriber 2 above pointed out, it goes both ways as to who can be blamed for government shutdowns. And the part about you being a man of integrity because you are liberal. Thats rich. Why not just say whay you really mean. All liberals good, all conservatives bad. As Obama would say, Period.

    @ airnaut

Sir- get your facts straight. Mike lee voted to keep Hill open, and Harry Reid and Obama shut down Hill for the budget battle.

Mike Lee and the Republicans voted to fund every single operation at Hill and every other function of government, EXCEPT Obamacare. Reid and Obama refused to accept that and forced the government shut down.

Mike Lee's integrity has been proven repeatedly as he fights in Washington to carry out his campaign promises. Unlike some other politicians who pander and home during elections and are nearly invisible back inside the beltway.

Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Rob Bishop, both R-Utah, also praised Tuesday's announcement.

    Senator Lee is a hypocrit.

He shut-down Hill AFB due to the ACA and Government spending,
yet here he is "praising" a DoD $Trillion boon-doggle.

    Don't get me wrong,
    I work at Hill AFB.
    I like the F-35.
But I'm a Liberal, and a man of integrity.

Mike Lee and his hypocracy shows he is not.

    Good for Hill AFB

West of Phoenix, Luke AFB will eventually get 144 of these fighters, ensuring the base's future.

This means most of the F-35's will be in the west where there is plenty of training space.
The only possible problems are with the addition noise and existing homes in the areas surrounding the base(s)
