With a player like this out there, can someone explain to me why BYU did not make more of a push to bring him on board? YOu simply cannot let a player like this walk to another program.

Amazing how Chris B's comments like that ALWAYS get posted, hmmmmm

Jabari Parker goes to Duke so why exactly are we discussing BYU-Utah?

    Nov. 27, 2013 8:48 p.m.

I would honestly like to know why some of my replies to Chris B don't make it on this thread but Chris B's original comments do. I see the replies of others and they don't seem any more genteel than mine. What gives? It seems Chris B has carte blanch to criticize and jab but some who would reply can't get an approval.

A friend of mine is his bishop out here and from all I have heard he is being a shinning example. Had he gone to BYU, his example would have changed few lives, but out here, he is doing far more good, on a much grander stage than he ever would have been otherwise.

    @ Chris B or Christopher B:

It would be such a welcome change for you to make comments on these sports articles without purposely being contentious with your obvious anti-BYU rhetoric. You appear to be obsessed.

For whatever reason you can't see it, BYU has been just a few missed free throws from actually winning both of their only losses... both to unbeaten, nationally ranked teams. BYU had substantial leads in both games and was leading throughout most of the Iowa State game before losing in the last minutes.
No other team has done that well against either of those nationally ranked and unbeaten teams.

BYU also beat 2 good, previously unbeaten teams... Texas and Stanford.

Given those facts, why does it remain so difficult for you to give BYU even just a little bit of credit for accomplishing some good things on-court so far this season?

When you purposely ignore those facts and spew only contentious negativeness, most people quit paying serious attention and you truly lose a lot of credibility.

You make some good comments concerning non-sport articles. You should try doing the same with more objectiveness involving sports articles. And the "LOL" thing seems juvenile.

No, Duke would not be #7 in the WCC, but Utah would be.

    Burke - PG
    Hayward - SG
    Parker - SF
    Favors - PF
    Kanter - C

I could live a long time with that line-up.

    @Myself 9:33 am

Holy cow that is embarassing. Obviously I meant Iowa State and Wichita in my 9:33 am comment, since BYU beat Texas without Jabari. I am not that ignorant of BYU basketball of which I am a fan. Maybe I was going to say BYU would have blown out Texas if Jabari was on BYU. I don't know. I will blame it on only getting 2 hours of sleep last night. Wow. I am surprised that no one called me out on that and made fun of me and thank the kind souls who had mercy on this poster who appeared to not really know what he was talking about at all.

As long as he keeps going to institute and doesn't let all the success go to his head he'll do fine. Good for him. I'd have rather seen him at the Y but, oh well.

I have to admit it would be pretty exciting to see Jabari on the Jazz team!

If we draft Jabari then Hayward instantly becomes expendable...especially if he gets some ridiculous restricted free agent offer. There is always some idiot GM out there who is desperate and will overpay and that is all it takes is one.

There really is no comparison between Hayward and Parker. Parker can carry a team. Hayward struggles to shoot a decent % game after game.

Hayward gambled on his contract offer from the Jazz and I think he lost. He has only proven he can't carry a teams scoring and he can't carry a team to wins. That won't bode well when it comes time to try to extort more money from the Jazz next offseason.

Hayward clearly has some talents but he is only a 2nd or third option so him asking for any type of money close to max deal is an insult.

Jabari Parker will likely be an NBA star who can carry a team. That type of player is hopefully what all these Jazz losses will result in.

    Parker, Wiggins, or Randle.

We have decent odds of getting a franchise-changing player.

Parker is a beast and is what we need.

I have high hopes for Jabari. The NBA needs star role models again; like John Stocton, Jeff Hornacek, and David Robinson.

Chrisby - as a poser Ute fan because of your BYU hatred it might not be wise to point fingers at Strength Of Schedule (SOS) It is quite easy for anyone to look up SOS on kenpom and find that there are 351 teams listed and the Ute's SOS happens to be ranked that same number!

    @Chris B

If Jabari was on BYU he would easily have been enough of a difference maker to have lead BYU to wins over Texas and Wichita. Probably he would have improved this team enough to make a deep NCAA tournament run, possibly even to the Final Four (I think the current BYU team is a near lock for the tournament and may even win one or two games in the tournament). However, I think he made the right choice for himself in going to Duke instead of BYU, and that is hard to say as a BYU fan who wishes he had decided to play for my Cougars.

All im saying is the Jazz need to continue losing so we can grab this guy in the draft next year haha

Honestly, add Parker to the current byu team with Dave Rose at the helm...I think they would be a legit threat to make it to the final 4. Having him on the floor would open up the floor for Mika, Haws, Carlino and Collinsworth. We all know that he's a one-and-done player, so it would be a one time shot for byu.

According to current RPI the might Utes would be 5th in the WCC. They are 9th in the Pac.

    Oh CB
    at least he considered BYU.
Brekkott Chapman a good signing for the U
Emery, Haws, Mika, Dastrup, Fischer (consensus all american in HS)
You are going to mock a team that has been to the NCAA's the last few years.
UVU has been to the CBI since the last time the Utes went to the Post Season.
Look up to those mighty Wolverines CB.

And to think, he could be losing to Iowa State and Wichita, looking forward to a brutal conference schedule including Portland, San Francisco, San Diego(not San Diego State), Pepperdine, and Pacific

Oh Jabari you are missing out!
