Always tough to come back after such an emotionally charged game as the likes of the Juan Diego win. We have so many friends and former neighbors at both of these schools that it was, honestly, a pleasure to see so many of their sons giving it all they had out there.
As I was excited for and congratulatory of all those Desert Hills folks we know and care about, I felt equal gut wrenching sadness for my friend, Coach Ray Hosner. He has played a positive roll in the lives of so many young men, including all three of my sons, for which I will always be grateful.
No doubt he is a fierce competitor. Two of my boys, especially, can testify to his "passion" if he's not happy with something you just did/didn't do, but his true heart was on display as soon as this game ended as he energetically congratulated, with hugs and handshakes, the Thunder players, before consoling any of his own.
Much love and Aloha to you, Coach. I know you will get yours some day!
