    Shopping local is less about the discount AMEX does or doesn't offer me. It's about supporting the local community and helping the local economy grow. Whatever bonus comes from AMEX doesn't really matter. That being said, like everyone else I know, I don't exclusively shop at local merchants—but I do whenever I can. Hopefully, Small Business Saturday will be one day this holiday season everyone can support the local merchants and other businesses that help our communities thrive and hire the lion's share of the workforce.

    AMEX cutting the benefit from $25/card down to $10/card makes it much less a big deal to me. I'll support local when I can and when it benefits me but if it doesn't make sense I won't. $25/card made it a no brainer for me to shop local, less so now. I still won't turn down $10 for free but I won't go out of my way to do it...
