    Mr. Lloyd,

That is true. USHAA determined Nelson's fate. And I though Olympus looked like a team playing to its maximum potential against Logan. A very disciplined, well coached high school team.

Whatever the outcome, I'm impressed with the poise and maturity of the players interviewed. No smack talk about the opponent, either direction, and both coaches being respectful. My dad played for East in the 50s when then went undefeated (Dee Lloyd), and so I'd like to see them go all the way. However, my kids go to Oly now, so I'm conflicted. I do hope it's a good game. I liked the Oly coach's quote about playing with "house money" at this point. However they got there, they're still playing. Oly didn't suspend Chase Nelson, and Logan's backup QB (Wildman I think) played a good game. So today, it will be a good experience for both teams to be playing at RES, on a beautiful fall day. Go Oly!

Wins against not one, but TWO 5-A semi-finalists are not quality wins--according to Wiseacre. This, notwithstanding a mopping of the premier hs team of Hawai'i. Another win against a 4A semi final team, WX, is not a quality win--according to Wiseacre.

Also, nobody has come within 2 touchdowns of East, and East's starters have literally only played about 65% of their games this year, and scores against East have occurred largely in the 4th quarter.

On the otherhand, Olympus lost to a team that East beat by 40. Olympus squeaked by Springville--a mediocre team in 4A's weakest region and Olympus had to hold on for dear life and have 4 interceptions to beat Logan while Logan had one arm tied behind their back. Olympus, bless their hearts, is a good team with the weakest one-loss resume I've ever seen.

If East wants to make a statement, play 4 quarters with their starters, this could be a 70 point game.

    Wiseacre ain't so wise.

In the late 60's East played Olympus at their homecoming. There was a parade of floats and other high school bacchanalia strung around the track prior to the game. At some time during the first quarter a group of East high students walking past one of the floats set it on fire. I still laugh about it. After the game walking home with a couple of friends a car full of East students stopped, jumped out and wanted to rumble. The three of us together wanted nothing to do with this and took out through the "Smart" dairy farm, through the cows and back into the stadium. I've enjoyed watching East lose since then. Go Titans.

@wiseacre: Did you really just say someone other than Olympus scores on "one trick pony plays?" This doesn't describe East, but does someone close to your heart. "Trickery" works well for Juan Diego and Olympus, especially when they're overmatched. Oly can take this game if a few things work in their favor: the plague hits East High School, the East bus breaks down on the way to RES, or someone tells Matich the game is on Sunday. However, their best bet is another intervention from on high or mass East player suspension. Leopards: 55-17.

Very disappointed Logan was not playing East. Good run Chase Nelson. You don't deserve to go out like this. UHSAA is inconsistent and need to be all replaced.

    East 52, Olympus 14

Olympus shouldn't even be playing this week, Logan would have drilled them last week with Nelson.

East will also beat Timpview by at least 3 TD's.

If Oly plays their all-time best game, they will still lose by five scores.

@wiseacre "East alum. But this East team is no Bingham or Alta in their heyday when they were dominant in all positions. Unfortunately, the media has really hyped this East team".

Let's start with the fact that East has a couple of big wins this year against Jordan (in the 5A semi-finals-reigning 5A State Champion) Woods Cross (in the 4A semifinals-only loss was to East. They destroyed every team they faced by a large margin. Those Bingham and Alta teams in their heyday that you speak of were very good teams also. Living in Sandy I watched many of their games. I've watched the East team this year and they are definitely as good or better than all of those Bingham and Alta teams. Most non-biased coaches and people who have seen east and Bingham play this year also agree that East would probably beat Bingham this year. I have friends that coach at both schools and they agree with me. The media has every right to pump up East this year because they prove it every week on the field. If they don't take state however then you will be right.

are you kidding me? east doesnt have speed i believe that they have one of the fasted teams in the state. no body can compute with them. they simply out run everyone on offense no need for drive.. and if a team happens to stop them a few times they will beat you in the air. i dont believe you have ever seen east play because trickory is not in their playbook. as far as weakness they have several. defensively they stuggle at the coner postision thank god for there fast lineman and linebacking core. as for oly, did you watch the logan game. they could not put together a drive to save there life. they will not be able to do that against an east team. ive said it from the beginning they are on a whole nother level from anyone in the state. and as far as them playing bingham all we can do is have out opinion they would win. might be closer than any other game in the season but its something we will never know>

    Go East!

Olympus worked hard getting to where they are however Logan not having their QB made a difference in that game. Is should of could of....does not matter. East is to powerful for Oly. I see a blow out here as well. A blow out is in the eyes of the beholder but I do not see Oly's defense stopping that offense. Oly better practice throwing the ball in that offense because East defense front is tuff to get through. East 55 Oly10.

@Ninja - East alum. But this East team is no Bingham or Alta in their heyday when they were dominant in all positions. Unfortunately, the media has really hyped this East team. There are deficiencies quite visible from an educated and uneducated football fan that I can see from the stands and if a coach breaks film down they could find it. They are not fast, they are big, huge, which poses obvious problems, but I will have to disagree with you in that they do not have speed - I saw many of East's opponents with better speed. The secondary is okay in coverage, they didn't have to do much because their d-line was their strength. Teams have been able to throw on East, and run to a much lesser level but opponents have some rushing yardage. East does not sustain drives, they explode and score on huge one trick pony plays. Do I think East is vulnerable in places, yes. Do I think East blows Olympus away, no. Do I think East advances, no question.

I agree with Ninja. East rolls in this one with no problems at all. East 56 Olympus 20. I also think WX keeps it close for a quarter or two. But I think T-View rolls in that one also. T-View 48 WX 17.

East and T-View in the Ship, and I even think this one is not that close. I think TView hangs around for a bit in this one, but eventually East pulls away. East 48 TView 24

@wiseacre I don't think you know what you're talking about. East hasn't had a "BIG TIME" win? Come on now. That's what dominating teams do. They make it look easy. Equalizer is speed but EAST has got speed on both sides of the ball along with SIZE, AND STRENGTH. I don't know who you been watching or rootin' for but EAST will roll past Olympus in this one.

Its hard to say Woods-X to beat Timpview (IF THEY PLAY A PERFECT GAME) but I think they would be able to compete in the first half until Timpview shows their post season experience and blows em out in the 2nd half

too much speed, size, and skill for East

Honestly, I think East rolls them by 30. They've got D1 athletes all over the field against good high school players. Olympus is a good football team, but East is on another level. East is easily the best team in the state and one of the best in state history. I believe that East could compete with almost any team in the country.

This game will be closer than we think. Both teams have not had "big-time" wins this season. For East, Alta, Jordan wins are marginal in quality simply because both teams have had a down year, especially Alta, and Jordan didn't have things going until later in the season so East got them at a good time. Woods X is probably East's token win. The other opponents for East were sub-par. Olympus too has not had quality opponents, Logan is probably their signature win, but Logan was not at full strength. Olympus' other opponents were sub-par too. We make judgement on the strength of a team based off margin of victory, which skews our thoughts on how good a team really is - - until you look at opponents. Both East and Olympus had some significant margins of victory, but their opponents were not the best. Additionally we look at the size of players to make an evaluation. East has big players, bigger than Olympus, especially on the front line, but speed is the equalizer of size, and Olympus has speed. Lastly, media attention - - we are drawn to teams we hear about frequently. I see a competitive game.
