For the record. I never said the 2013 team was better than 2010. I only said that 2010 is NOT head and shoulders above the 2013 team. Benzo, this years team killed Lone Peak and Pleasant Grove. Two teams who are now in the second round of the playoffs. You can't even say the games were closer than the score indicated. Riverton simply dominated. They are also the #2 offense in 5A. The 2013 group has more team speed than 2010, a better group of linebackers, defensive backs, and running backs. The 2010 team was better on o and d line. I would probably give the edge to the 2010 team, but if they pull off a miracle on Friday, I would have to give it to the 2013 team. No bias here either as I have a son on both teams. If you want to talk about the "eye" test. No Riverton team "looked" better than the 2009 team. They just couldn't put it together on the field.

Being a Herriman parent I wouldn't consider myself a Riverton fan...but their is a close connection between Riverton and Herriman, plus my son played on the 2009 Riverton team as a freshman.

From my perspective...I would say the 2010 Riverton team is the best in the history of the school with the 2013 coming in second. 2010 and 2013 are the only Riverton teams to make it to the semifinals. When comparing the two teams however, the 2010 team passes the "eye" test. 2010 beat Alta, 2010 beat rival Herriman and 2010 made the quarterfinals. The only losses 2010 suffered were to 2010 State Champs Bingham and to Lone Peak which would be State Champs in 2011.

I think only a win over Bingham on Friday would allow you to consider the 2013 team better than the 2010...but that would be only based on the fact that they would be semifinal team which has never happened to Riverton.

Riverton had an unreal Bingham team in the same region in 2010, only reason that they did not win their region that year. 2010 Riverton would beat this year's Riverton team by 3 touchdowns. That team had better personnel at almost every position.

I disagree. That 2010 team was very good, but not head and shoulders above this years team. I saw every game in 2010 and every game this year and I think they were pretty equal except this years team won a Region Co-championship. Even the equipment manager whose own son played on the 2010 team admits that there is something special about this 2013 group of kids. It's really not fair to compare the two, but the 2010 team is definitely not "head and shoulders above this years team".

Not to sure about the greatest team in the history of Riverton football, which, incidentally, could be labeled as one of the most underachieving football programs in the state. The 2010 team was by far the best team that Riverton football has seen. That team is head and shoulders above this years team.

Regardless of what else happens, this is the greatest season in the history of Riverton football and they should be proud of all they've accomplished. To win on Friday would mean entering uncharted waters and would bring the Riverton football world to a pinnacle of success previously unknown to the Silverwolves. Congrats on the great year Riverton, something great to build on for next year.
