These East fans crack me up. So being a little better than East the past two years is underachieving? Only East can beat East? Even BigBenzo88 doesn't go that far with Herriman. If East loses it will be because they weren't the best in 4A. Until they play on the field you won't know who is the best. East, Logan, and Timpview all have a good shot at it and have teams that can get the upset on them before they face one another. If I was an East fan I would waiting to see how they do against a top time before I touted how great they were. Once they cleared the field and the snow let up for the second half Timpview massacred East worse than they did Logan last year. Last year Logan was ranked 3rd in 4A and nobody though they had a chance against East. This year's team looks better.

Also, if you read the article, it sure doesn't look like Logan is overlooking Bountiful either.

Timpview is the hard one to tell because they started even slower than last year and recently haven't faced any good teams.

Seeing as the potential matchup with East isn't for 3 weeks I don't think Logan will be looking past Bountiful. They played in the 3rd game of the year and it was the lowest scoring game of the year for Logan as they beat Bountiful 10-3. One of the advantages Logan has is they are usually very well conditioned and very few players play on both sides of the ball. Bountiful has quite a few players playing on both sides of ball which might give Logan an advantage in the 4th quarter.

Logan is already looking to showdown with East - I like Bountiful in an upset - down year for Bountiful but well coached to pull every last bit out his players.

Only East can beat East? What are you laying the groundwork for an excuse that East choked if they lose, rather than give credit where credit may be due...Logan beats East with a great performance? Not saying it will happen, but if it does I'm not thinking it's because East failed to play well.

I stand by what I said. Mark my words.

I don't know if Logan will make it to the semis if they look past Bountiful,

I'm not a Logan supporter...but my pick to win 4A is Logan. I still believe the 4A Champion goes through East and its East championship to lose...but the Logan seniors have beaten East 3 times. East has a powerful running attack...but I think the passing attack of Logan will be just enough to overcome East.

Only time will tell. Too bad they meet up in the semis instead of the finals.

If you read the above article, Coach Fav makes no bones about the high quality of Logan's competition this year. Last year, Logan was injury plagued with up to 9 starters out at a given time. I was shocked by how well the season went. 4 returning all-state D1 players from the championship team and at least 2 other starters were injured for state against Tview. No one I heard from Logan predicted victory in state last year with so many impact players gone and Timpview in the first round. The Logan kids are taught to leave it all on the field: take personal responsibility for losses and congratulate the victor. That is why nothing was made of all the injuries to playmakers last year. The year before (2011) the team went 14-0. This group of Seniors hasn't lost many games. But with the likes of Bountiful, Olympus, Springville, of course East, and Timpview, Sky View, Woods Cross etc, in the other bracket, they will need to play with intensity and intelligence to keep winning. As stated by Fav, everyone is 0-0 now. It should be a lot of fun. Good luck to all the kids.

@oldtimeftballer, funny how you say that as Logan beat east last year.
@Kipp, lets play the games before we get too confident. Playoffs are a clean slate for everyone. last year east was suppose to be unbeatable and they barely escaped against an average box elder team before being destroyed by timpview.

Tipitup 1, I agree with you about Mountain Crest last year. I don't think anyone expected them to play as tough as they did last year, that championship game could have gone either way. What a great game! That's the thing about the playoffs though, anyone can get beat on any given day. Also I wouldn't be surprised if Logan beats East providing that both teams are still in it. Logan has had East's number I think they have won 3 of the last 4 meetings. May the best teams win.

It seems like all the talk last year was about Timpview and East and eligibility issues!! I don't even think Logan was involved with the talk building up to the tournament. Then Timpview put the smackdown on everyone, except Mountain Crest and almost lost the championship game. This year should be a really good tournament, East has been in this position before of being the favorite and keeps getting beat, two years ago by Logan, last year by Timpview. Let's play the games and see who is standing at the end! Good luck teams.

I seem to remember East getting handled by Timpview last year also. All the talk was about East, and Logan last year also.

Logan won't beat East. Only East can beat East, and don't count on that. You may not want to look past Btfl

I hope Logan beats east so we can stop hearing all this talk about east being the best in 4a

    So confident aren't we Logan?

You were making the same statements last year. I thought you would be still licking your wounds from the one and done Timpview massacred you with last year. But happily you don't get the TBirds this year as they have made a quick exit out of Logan 2 of the last 3 years.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bountiful beats Logan. Logan has under achieved the last few years.

Logan's 1st state championship team in 1978 featured a left-handed running back name Keith Nelson who is the father of Riley, DJ, and Chase. If you look each of the Nelson's Senior years you will find that there is only ONE loss thus far. Logan lost to Alta in 2005. Their combined record thus far is 50-1 so the most losses they could have is 2 if they don't take State.
