Dude didn't say Notra Dame was having an off year, he said even in an off year it would be a privilege to play the Irish. And Bosie could go to a bowl game without winning the MAC. So someone didn't catch an s on cardnial. You'll live.

Notre Dame is ranked... Or did we not see Sunday's lists? They won't be losing that ranking, neither will ASU after next week! Look at what they are doing at WSU.... The sadness continues in RES come November 9th...

The 'ranked' teams of this year may be on U's schedule every year, but the success of 2013 is not guaranteed to follow... And... The BCS dies before January 15th, 2014 so then what? Yes, still a 'powerful' conference, but only as powerful as their championships in the same last 15 years that you smash the cougars of having put up against your beloved utes. Oh, and just a sidebar dose of reality, Oregon is NOT on the U schedule every year... neither is Stanford!

Chris B. Why only go back 15 years? Of course you know why, and so does everyone else. That is about the time the utes started to have any sustained success against BYU.

You would like to obfuscate and or ignore the fact that if you go back further that that-- utah wins over BYU were quite rare. In fact BYU almost made it 10 years in a row. That would be 4 straight years followed by another four, plus one.

    LOL on that.

I think beating BYU this year will preserve Kyle Whittingham's job for 2014, regardless of the outcome of the rest of this season.

But, in 2014 and 2015 the Utes are going to have to make it on their own steam. Meaning, there will be no BYU win to salvage a poor season.

I hope the Utes can fix their troubles soon, or changes could be coming.

I think Bronco will be most thankful this Thanksgiving that he wont have to lose to Utah for another 3 years. I would imagine it's tough having your best player Van Noy say that his Super Bowl is the Utah game, only to go out and deliver another choke.

I thinks it's nice to get some material from outside writers, but could we run an article past an editor before hand? Stanford "Cardinals?" Maybe pay attention to the fact that if you're going to predict Boise winning out that they will not only get a bowl game, but also go to the MWC championship.

Fun article though. Daring opinions to say it's a bad year for Notre Dame, that Houston is poised to win the AAC, or that Southern Miss will be have Middle Tennessee for dinner. I hope that isn't a prediction that a winless team will beat Middle Tennessee... That wouldn't be daring as much a dumb.

Chris, I agree that the Utes are in a VTC. However, I love my Cougars independence. The Cougars get to play in many different places throughout the US. We go to Wisconsin this next Sat and to Notre Dame two Saturdays after that and end the year in San Francisco. We have been to VA and TX already. Next year we visit Texas in Austin, Central FL in Orlando, play in TN, and in Berkeley, CA against your conference's Bears, to name a few. Can't beat that. It is great to be called the "Notre Dame of the West". I believe that both schools, the U and BYU are in great positions right now. I am pulling for the Utes to win at least two more games so they can go bowling. It would be neat if the two schools could play each other in the Fight Hunger Bowl in SF. However, with an extra game on their schedule because they played in HI, USC will probably be the #6 seed at 7-6. We will see - there is still a lot of FB to be played this year. Good luck Utes and Cougars.

I'm thankful we get two years off from the little kids on the hill.

Nothing would make me happier than to see the rivalry die. Neither school can afford it anymore. Both programs have bigger things to worry about, and the nonsense that it brings out makes the LDS church look bad whenever national attention is drawn to it.

Besides, I can still root against Utah as a USC fan, or when they play our local Washington teams. I know that for the regional fans in the i-15 corridor suggesting they not play is heresy (Dave Noriega, I'm talking to you), but I promise, you will all be better off without the jerkiness.

Chris B, of course Ute fans care about beating BYU four years in a row. They don't have much else to cheer about. BYU fans, on the other hand, realize that their program is on the rise and we are starting to see the benefits. Poor Ute fans see their team losing to teams that are not even in the top of their own conference. What does that say about the Utes? If you can't be the medicore teams in your own conference, that must make you the conference bottom feeders (as usual).

I'm actually rooting for the Utes to pull out a couple more wins. I just don't think it's possible for the Utes to make it to the very bowl that their fans used to make fun of. It must be tough to see your rival bowling each year while your team can't even find a way to become bowl eligible.

Just goes to show how tough it is to win in a tough conference.
A buddy of mine from Oregon was complaining about the same thing.

Why is it, that for the past fifty years, Utah fans have always whined about their tough schedule? Although they did put together two good seasons in the MWC...

That's why the PAC brought in two weak teams.

Still, Chris has to come on second to tout the same old lame trash that he posts 5-10 times on every article.

Chis, how many good quarters did Utah have last seek against SC?

    Live in the now, babe...

"most Byu fans I know don't care about losing to Utah"

Ya, and Kyle Van Noy didn't really care about beating Utah even though he claimed it was his "Super Bowl"

You want us to believe you don't care about an 0-4 record against your rival the last 4 years.

  • BeSmart Cheyenne, WY
    Oct. 30, 2013 10:15 a.m.

    @ Chris B
Most BYU fans I know don't care about losing to Utah.
They care about 6-2 and 5 straight wins.
What do Utah fans cheer about? Beating BYU or Stanford a while ago.

  • Chris B Salt Lake City, UT
    Oct. 30, 2013 9:52 a.m.

In byu's toughest schedule ever they have exactly one team currently ranked on their schedule, and Wisconsin in barely ranked.

Meanwhile Utah has #2 undefeated Oregon, top 10 otherwise undefeated Stanford(who we beat), ranked UCLA, ranked ASU

And that schedule will be consistent almost every year.

Just goes to show how tough it is to win in a tough conference

  • Chris B Salt Lake City, UT

Please name the 8 cupcakes you think BYU has on their schedule. Remember, 8 games have already been played and there is evidence to refute you.

  • SLCWatch Salt Lake City, UT
    Oct. 30, 2013 9:06 a.m.

Please name the 8 teams you think are cupcakes. And just because they lost to Utah doesn't demean Utah enough to call them a cupcake. Have some respect.

  • BeSmart Cheyenne, WY
    Oct. 30, 2013 8:01 a.m.

Do you know that BYU schedule is tanked higher than most power conference teams?
So 6-2 is probably the best record against a schedule that tough in Utah.
oh wait it is the only 6-2 record against a top 40 schedule.
Utes only success (in history) were against some of the worst schedules.

    Chris B

    Repressing tough memories huh?

    Such as:

AP - #28 BYU, unranked Utah (not a single vote)

Coaches - #30 BYU, unranked Utah (not a single vote)

    BCS - #28 BYU, #45 Utah, #78 USU

    USA Today - #26 BYU, #57 USU, #59 Utah

    CBS Sports - #29 BYU, #46 Utah, #71 USU

    Sagarin - #24 BYU, #39 Utah, #41 USU

It's easy to see why you are so obsessed with a quality football program like BYU, especially when your own program has such a pitiful record of finishing in the Top 25.

So glad BYU haters have moved "Onward and Upward" and left BYU articles for us BYU fans to enjoy in peace!!! I guess that is what happens when you suck in your new conference and are in the basement again for the third straight year!!!1-4 and no chance of a winning season unless you can some how sneak Alex Smith or Brian Johnson back into uniform for your last four games!!!Gots to hurt that the team you barely beat is now playing the way you thought and bragged that your team was going to be at this point in the season!!! Already going bowling while you struggle to get eligible!!! I feel your pain!!! RISE UP!!!

    Go Cougs!!!

Guess how many 4-0 sweeps byu has over Utah in the last 15 years?
