I remember that statement and hoped it would not take 6 weeks. I would also say for good and for bad, those 40-8-90 number at last weeks' game also led to 16 points by the opposition. If they had eliminated the turnovers and had the 40-8-90 number, I would be giddy.

I do hope this is a step in the progression of the offense and we have seen the peak.

    RE: Chris B.

"You guys want to be accepted so badly don't you? I noticed that the entire state of florida had only one fourth the votes as the state of Utah, and Florida State's QB was second in voting. And I'll remind you Florida's population is significantly larger than Utah's. That's the difference in how fans of true national powers act and fans of wannabe national powers act. You think USC, Florida, Alabama, Utah fans would be getting pumped about a capital one performance of the week? LOL. NO!"

Classic post. Let me remind you that BYU's fan population is significantly larger than Utah's. That's the difference in how fans of true in-state powers act and fans of wannabe state powers act. You think USU, Boise State, and Notre Dame fans post dozens of times each week on BYU articles. LOL. NO!

Florida State's QB won the award a couple of weeks ago. If the award is so meaningless, why do you think fans from teams like Florida State, Oregon, Georgia and Clemson were so interested in voting for their players?

For the record, here is the list of winners of the Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week so far this year:

    BYU QB Taysom Hill
    Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg
    Florida State QB Jameis Winston
    ECU QB Shane Carden
    Iowa's Kevonte Martin-Manley
    Oregon QB Marcus Mariota
    Georgia QB Aaron Murray
    Clemson QB Tajh Boyd

I can see why a BYU-obsessed Utah fan would be so jealous of BYU's QB being included in such an elite list of outstanding players.

From an article title 5 premier coaching jobs to open
    1. Texas
    2. USC
    3. Nebraska
    4. Notre Dame
    5. Texas A&M
If Utah was a national power Whit would have been fired for struggling in conference.

    by ESPN
    and just so you know
    I cheer for the Utes.
But the only cable provider in my area of 80,000 people
    doesn't carry the pac-12 network
I can see BYU and USU play
I saw the Utes play once (BYU)
Pac-12 network is available in 40 million homes.
BYUtv is available in over 50 million.
    ESPNnews 74 million.

Are you kidding? Utah fans would be having trouble breathing from beating their chests so hard.

Good to see @ChrisB speaking his mind, finally!

The continued improvement by BYU's offense has been impressive, let's hope they can keep it up and finish the season strongly. BYU's got tough games coming up but games that they should be able to compete in. Now if the Defense can rise from that awful performance; no more big play give ups. And if the Offense can protect the ball better than vs Houston.

    More petty jealousy?

Here's a little clue: In order for BYU fans to be able to vote for Taysom's Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week, Taysom first had to have such an outstanding performance that he was one of only four players nominated for the week.

After all of your mocking criticism of Taysom since the start of the season, it must be particularly galling to you to see Taysom's true potential starting to emerge, especially in the same week in which Travis had the worst performance of his career.

Over the last four games, Taysom's passing efficiency rating has been 156.3, which, for the season, would rank him about 21st in the NCAA.

In the last four games, Travis's passing efficiency rating has been 119.0, which, for the season, would rank him about 94th in the country.

Two quarterbacks headed in opposite directions.

Call us the first time a Utah QB passes for 400+ yards, rushes for 100+ yards, and throws 4 TDs, and we'll compare strength of opponents.

    Utah a national power?
You realize you just compared yourself to teams with multiple national titles.
    Top ten recruiting classes.
    Multiple heisman winners.
hundreds of current and former NFL players.
    National followings
games on Network TV (CBS, ABC)
And yes Utah fans would be excited about it.
Go back and look at how many posts on Wilson's qb ratings
    or bubba poole's rushing stats.
    Any Alabama fans posting?
National powers don't post on other teams boards

I think Utah fans are so used to getting no attention at all the last 3 years that they might throw a parade down State St. just at being nominated before actually winning. Isn't that how it works in SLC? Maybe get a patch to commemorate the occasion.

I was very impatient at the beginning of the season with the losses and lack of offensive productivity. I guess I just should have trusted Anae and hope he can pull it off the rest of the year.

Dick, I know it seems like you have won all 70 games you predicted this year but it truly is only 50 wins to go along with the 20 losses.

I do like the progress that the Cougars (and especially Taysom) are making on offense.

I'm sure the defense is getting a lot of practice time this week in preparation for Boise State.

This is another opportunity to showcase a growing offense and a stellar defense. I know that when we win there will be some who will say that this is a down year for Boise or there first string QB was injured, or some other nonsense, but this is a very critical game for both teams and they will both be at their best.

Factor in two great coaches and you have the formula for a entertaining game that will go down to the final play.

    BYU 31-28 over Boise State.

    Goooooooooooo Cougars!!!

Getting better each week. I predict an 8-4 season and a bowl game in December.
Blue Coug, Thanks for pointing out the accolades for Hill. I had not heard that yet. And to think he is only a soph. Can't wait for next year.
